Planning a trip.....
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yes, the guy I am riding with was comparing it to his trip last year to Colorado... Pikes Peak. He wasn't sure of the elevation comparison and neither was I. I planned to Google it, just didn't make it that far. He said his bike even had a couple small minor hiccups last year in Colorado. Colorado is a very beautiful state but I have been to Eastern Tennessee for Bristol races and I like it much better than Colorado! -

I have read and heard about the Tail of the Dragon many times but when we brought it up to our wives, they didn't seem excited about it. They want to do the Devils Triangle instead of the Tail of the Dragon. The couple we are riding with used to live in that area and say it's a very nice, scenic ride. I did however suggest taking the road that heads South out of Gatlinburg through the Smokey Mountains into Cherokee. I am assuming that would be a nice ride. It's an assumption of course. I am not counting out the Tail of the Dragon just yet. Simply put, I don't want my ribcage sore from the wife hitting me constantly! -
I have been thinking Hagon myself. My only concern is that "adjustability" factor I get with the air. I ride double up 98% of the time and I tend to load my bike down pretty heavy. I like the idea of having the power to adjust my suspension. Hagon has some adjustments I know but not like the stock shock. Right now, I can get the stock shock $100 cheaper than the shock that Hagon says I need. Still on the fence. Having the ability to rebuild the "Hagon" is a nice thing to have but I am curious as to the cost to have it shipped and rebuilt and shipped back. Hagon offers a 2 year warranty compared to the OEM 1 year warranty but again... It's the adjustability that keeps bringing me back to square 1.

I had been told the same thing about White walls....that they would look good on my bike. I have decided just yet.... Definitely not saying I wont when these are done. Thanks cowpuc for the nice comments!

I have had the Ivan jet kit done but I can't see that being an issue. I disagree with both of your statements about him keeping up with us in the mountains..... He can't keep up now! Funny how a bike that cost $40000 and is only 1 year old and a bike that I paid $4800 for.... Well.... You know the rest! Thanks guys! -
I will be heading to Eastern Tennessee from Iowa in August. The couple we are riding with have a 2015 Harley Davidson Ultra Limited and he asked me something I couldn't honestly answer... He asked if I think I will have any troubles in the mountains because my bike is not fuel injected. Can anyone answer that? I know I couldn't. We are more curious than anything. I don't personally think it will be an issue. We will ride to Nashville our first isn't and stay the night. We will get up and head to Gatlinburg where we will have be in a cabin for the next 3 days. I plan to ride the Devils Triangle but we don't think the Tail of the Dragon is going to be possible. Our wives are not really crazy about doing that for some reason! Should I expect any problems?

Thanks guys for all the comments! The Monster Ovals sound fantastic! I couldn't be happier with the sound of those. The last 2 pictures in the daylight are the ones I had from last fall. I have done a bit more since then. Just got the Carbon_one adapter , with legs, from good Ole Mike Eykamp so now I can hopefully mess with it some more. I do have to change the rear shock soon. I noticed it's leaking around the rubber. I ordered it but am waiting for things around me to calm down. I plan to add Mike's Diamond Cut Fins soon... Hopefully. There really isn't anything I don't like about this bike. I like to get attention from all the people that drool over the Harleys.... Nothing against a Harley... But I like to steal some of that thunder and it does happen from time to time.

This is my bike... Love this damn bike! ! Been riding for 25 years and this is by far the best bike I have ever owned! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160504/cc027e6f51de3d3c92fd8cf40f9dad49.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160504/3fe35b1fe5f4e825f42d9cf2c90fbec1.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160504/c8ea65649d059f01f182b5ae53bc0dc6.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160504/686b94412ffbd3375ab3f3a71303bef6.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160504/6ea19a12d0d213880b783979bbc2a00f.jpg

Leveling links question..
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sorry Don... I completely missed the 2nd page. My fault. -
I found the write up to make my own but I don't have the tools or equipment to do it right so I found someone to help... what is the diameter of the holes that need drilled in each link? I know it's 1/4" x 1 1/4" x 7 15/16" but I didn't see anything about the diameter of the holes. Thanks in advance for the help.

I contacted Diamond R Accessories and they would like to have at least 20 more orders before making a batch of leveling links. I would like to have some now. I know they can be made as I have seen them here before but I don't have the drill press to do it right. Does anyone already have a set made and you are willing to part with? Does anyone want to order from Diamond R Accessories to get the 20+ order filled? Right now they have 3 orders and I am one of them. Got a ways to go... 👍

Question...
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is something else. I went out for a much bigger ride today. Weather was beautiful! Anyway, I intentionally pulled hard in 3rd, 4th and 5th....just to see if it felt like it was slipping. Never did. Pulled hard every time. When we got back home and parked and did like most of us do and just sat back in the lawn chair and stared at the bike. I decided it was time to put it away for the night so I jumped on it, started it and was just about to put it in gear when I heard a slight growl coming from the clutch housing and I could feel it through the handle bars... Just like I stated before. So, I pulled in the clutch and held it and most of the vibration and sound slowly went away. Slowly. Almost to nothing. I released the clutch, still in neutral, and it started again making the sound and the slight handlbar vibration. Repeated a couple times with the same result. Thought about it for a second and put it in gear, no issues. Went relatively smooth... Like it normally does I guess. My buddies 2015 Ultra Limited sounds horrible when he puts his in gear! Big clunk. -
What options are there out there for smaller antennas? I am thinking 4' antennas. I don't use the CB but I do use the radio. I have heard of the Marshall Mod but when I search it and click the link, it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Question...
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for taking so much time to explain! It does make sense. Very good sense! My clutch felt normal when I squeezed it in. I was just confused how it died instantly... Twice. Then it was fine. As for the clutch fluid, I have not checked it but through the little window, it's very very clear and clean. My brake fluid is a little dark but I will do the turkey baster technic for that since I don't have a brake bleeder/vacuum. I just replaced my tires last fall so that was one of the first things I did when I walked it out of the garage was check the pressure. Thanks again for all the explaining! I continue to learn more and more about this bike! I just DON'T want to have anything happen while on my trip because I am going with 4 other Harley riders and they give me crap about not having bought one. I just tell them mine is paid for....is yours? They each have $400+ payments. Crazy! -
Question...
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
As I said, I tend to spend money when it's really not necessary. I'm sure you are all right. I plan to change the oil in a week or so. This bike has had Amsoil used since new according to my service records and I chose to stay with Amsoil. I know oil cones with mixed emotions but since it was the drink of choice for this bike since new, I will just stay with it.... Unless someone tells me something about Amsoil I don't know about of course. -
Question...
cwhite123174 replied to cwhite123174's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Oh yeah...It all makes sense! I hear so much about the Barnett Clutch plates and then I found that there is a member on here that sells his own kind? I will do as you suggest and ride for a month or so and see how it goes! Thanks for taking the time to answer! -
I have a 2004 RSV with 24,000 miles. I bought it last fall. I had all service records and it had an oil change about 500 miles before I bought it. I probably put another 2000 miles on that same oil. Here is my question...... I pulled it out of the garage for the first time of the year last weekend.....well...I had it running and I walked it out of the garage. It was kind of a cool day and since it really had not run much lately I let it idle for a few minutes while we got things around. My wife jumped on the back, I got situated and squeezed in the clutch, hit 1st and it jumped forward and died as if I dumped the clutch. I put it back in neutral, started it, squeezed the clutch again and it did the same thing. I repeated this one more time and this time it shifted into 1st ok. Told my wife we may as well try it. I rode it kinda hard through all gears for the next 10 miles or so and it didn't skip a beat. Shifted great and grabbed hard through all gears. Didn't feel like it was slipping at all. Any ideas? I am known to replace parts that don't need replaced... Meaning I fix what isn't broke. Would it be worth putting Barnett clutch plates in? Do I need the spring conversion kit as well? Or am I just overeacting? I am going to be taking a big trip in August on the bike so I just want to be prepared. I will be with ALL Harley boys so I think with that said, you all know where I am going with this! [emoji6] I will say that after the bike is warmed up, and I put it in neutral, it seems like I can hear a very slight growling noise and I can feel it in the clutch lever and brake lever but only while it's in neutral. My wife says I am nuts about hearing the noise but she said she can feel it..... "A little" ... In the levers. Not sure if this could be related to my concern or not. Any thoughts or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone! I have a question... My phone is huge. It's my work and lifeline so going smaller wasn't an option for me. What options do I have to play music with my phone through the cassette WITHOUT needing a cable? This phone doesn't fit in my pouch because of the placement of the cord. Isn't there a Bluetooth option? Thanks in advance for the help or suggestions.

I understand what your saying but I myself can only hear out of one ear and I can't risk wearing an ear bud in the only ear.. Lol! LOTS of people do it though.. I know. I just like being able to control the sound coming from the speakers. I am a car audio guy and this is the best I have found.. So far! Sent from my SM-N900R4 using Tapatalk

Yes... You can make all adjustments you want. If I remember correctly, it's a 9 band equalizer built in. Can even adjust tone settings. Great app! Give it a try. I'm sure you will like it. Sent from my SM-N900R4 using Tapatalk
