  1. Yeah. I didn't clarify that. I had a member let me know that. I had no idea that there was a Back of the Dragon. They even have a website! Looks pretty cool to me!
  2. Lol! I hear that loud and clear. We all know that there are songs that hit the mood in the riding area your at AND songs that just don't do it for ya! Happens to me often! 😉 Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  3. No. This is just a date I picked to leave. I have a daughter graduating in May and my oldest daughter is having my first grandchild in June so I want all that taken care of before I "pop the question".. Lol. Yes, we both love waterfalls! I stopped at one of Cherhola Skyway last year but can't remember the name of it. Bald River Falls maybe? It was off the beaten path but worth the ride. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks.... Thats very useful information! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  5. Also, I suppose I should mention that I plan to "Propose" to the woman I have been with for 3 years while in this trip, at some point. I have not decided where I want to do that yet though. So where along this trip. Some special area. 😊 Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  6. We are planning our trip the 2nd week of August. Still awhile away but Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  7. Let me ask this... When I leave Franklin, NC, that's the day we plan to ride Blue Ridge Parkway. My plan was originally to head back north and jump on the BRP just north of Cherokee, ride to Asheville by way of the BRP. The northern part of the Back of the Dragon is only about 3 hours north of Asheville. Since I will be in this part of our great country, I prefer to avoid interstates from Asheville Tazewell, Virginia, the northern part of the BOTD. What would you suggest for a route from Asheville to Marion, VA? Just curious what my time frame would be to do all this. Anyone ride highway 91/133 in Tennesse into Virginia to Highway 16 up into Marion, VA? What's that like? Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks all. I have heard about the Back of the Dragon but not sure I can squeeze that in this year BUT that will give us a reason to go back again next year with a little more focus North East right? 😉 It was also suggested that when I exit the Dragon at the resort, took the Moonshiner 28 again and take 1246 (Rhymers Ferry Rd.) Out of Fontana Village Resort to 1247 (Meadow Branch Rd ) run it into Tapoco NC where it meets 129....kind of like the dragon ..except you go through small towns and less traffic. This has now been added to our trip. We will average about 6 hrs of riding per day. 200-300 miles daily. Not alot. Still want to have time to "do stuff". Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  9. Rick, do you have any problems seeing over it? I am 5'9 and when I sit in my "usual" saddle position, I look just below the top of the windshield and I have a 13" windshield. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  10. Well, we are planning our trip east again now. Enjoyed it so much last year, gonna do it again this year. Last year we rode Cherhola Skyway. Absolutely beautiful! Rode the Moonshiner 28, also amazing scenery. This year we will go further east. We plan to ride from Iowa to Nashville, spend the night there. Ride from Nashville to Robbinsville, NC by way of the Dragon of course. Spend the night in Robinsville and the next day I want to head up to Cherokee, NC and get on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have heard so much about that ride! That day we plan to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway all the way through the Smokey Mountains to Ashville and come back through Maggie Valley and this time stop at the Wheels through Time museum I have heard so much about, back up 441 to Gatlinburg. Highway 441 impressed me last year! So much I want to do it again! We plan to end that day in Knoxville, TN. Get a hotel for the night and ride back to Nashville where the wife and I want to spend a night on the town, mainly Broadway St. Uber will be our friend that night.. 👍Spend the next couple days riding home. Looking forward to this ride. As I said earlier, we did a similar ride last year but never got the chance to get on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We are not going until the 2nd week of August so I am certain this plan will change several times.... 😉
  11. Nice! I understand what your saying about the bag. It has kinda been my concern as well... Visibility from all angles including above. I think the Ram Mount will be my best bet. With your setup it seems to be up, visible and easily accessible. Thanks for the pictures! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  12. I have a pouch. That's the concern. It sits on the tank. I was looking for an alternative, such as the Ram Mount. I was looking for suggestions as if a mount or a windshield bag is better so I am not looking down so much... More straight forward. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  13. Yeah.. I know the possibilities are endless but with that comes ALOT of junk. I was curious what is out there and who has experiences. Ram Mount may be the way to go rather than a windshield bag. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  14. I have heard quite a bit about the Ram Mounts. Looks good on yours. Might just be the way to go to get my phone/gps/mp3 player more visible. 👍 Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  15. Because you didn't like it? Or just because... Lol! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  16. As Arizona said, they do obstruct vision and that may be my deal breaker. I bought a dash camera for my travels east this year and with my phone being my GPS and music player, I find myself reaching down and looking in my pouch more often that I probably should. I have yet to find a decent cell phone holder. My phone is big. It's my company phone as well as my personal phone so unfortunately it's my only option. Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  17. Sorry Don... I knew I posted it in the wrong section after I had already clicked submit. My bad! Sent from my SM-N920R4 using Tapatalk
  18. How many of you have a windshield bag on your bike? I would really like to have a bit more room for easy access storage when I do my bigger rides. That's the best thing I could come up with. What do you use? Do you like it? Any input is appreciated!
  19. It's a great investment. I have put 1000 miles on my bike since my install and it works perfectly every time.
  20. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160731/e048669580c9e6ad461ab47d44950abe.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160731/4819fdd1ec2f21f9880a3e73ffbf114c.jpg I sure like the way it turned out! Fantastic job! Much better than I was expecting! No comparison to any online at all. This is #1 of 1...for now. Light bar was made custom by a VR Member.... Rack was built by a VR Member and rack was installed by a VR Member.... Oh... And my rack is owned by a VR Member...[emoji12].
  21. Yeah I know you can do it that way as well but I took mine off and drilled new holes. It was easy enough. My luck would have been that I would have broke something trying to bend them! 😕
  22. Thank you! I appreciate the kind words!
  23. I had Larry build me a rack to put in my hitch behind the bike and let me tell you folks.. He completely out did himself with this! I suggested an idea of what I would like and he ran with it! When I have it all wired up and ready, I will post pictures. Tomorrow I am going to meet a good friend and his wife and we are going to work on it and get it ready for my trip in a few weeks. Good Ole Mike Eykamp is gonna show me his knowledge tomorrow for sure! Not to mention the light set up I bought from Steve ( M61A1MECH) to install on this rack is amazing!
  24. It was so easy to change the oil.... Check the tire pressure... Check the final drive fluid... Heck... Just messing around looking at things on it was easy and fun! I wanted to fix my crooked saddle bag rails, do the mod to straighten them out with the saddle bags but ran out of time for the night. Oh well...another day!
  25. First time using this and all I can day is WOW! Have to admit, I was a little nervous. Not sure if it something that could be done by myself. I was sweating bullets but starting to cool down now.. [emoji6]. Needing to do an oil change so I figured this would be a good time to try it out. Nice design Larry! Thanks Mike for the option to buy a spare one you had sitting around! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160728/0230489ce7b3bb8f1999c028c5631719.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160728/49c91daf0fc98a41af5f40606785a837.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160728/3c144ba005cf1f63481e7ed9564bd7c2.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160728/4686020fa21839161d2cb72567ff1c32.jpg
