  1. I have a 79 XS11, original owner, sort of. Dad bought it new in Owosso, Mi in March of 79, I was blessed to receive the bike in 85, he lost interest in riding. So, I have had mine ever since! I would recommend you join the XS11.com site, a ton of knowledge and a very good group of folks, a lot like this site! Ernie
  2. Hello All! Got my seats back from Rick a week ago Monday, but have been pretty busy. I was only able to take a few short runs into town, however I could feel an immediate difference in the seat. There was no longer a bunching feeling around the tank area, and I was able to bring my feet in closer to the bike at a stop light. All good signs and I just could not wait to take a longer ride! Well, the wife and I just got home from a 70 mile "test run" and all I can say is WOW!! I no longer have pressure on my tailbone. As a result, I don't feel as though I am being "pushed" forward in the seat. My wife said she no longer felt the pressure on her tailbone as well, and as a result she did not have to adjust her position every time we stopped. I can't wait to get out this weekend and try to get a 200-300 mile run in! All I can say is THANK YOU Rick Butler for the work you have done! Ernie
  3. Just a thought, but contact Rick and discuss your issues with the seat. He may be able to give you some advise. My seat "pushed" me forward so I sent it to Rick. It will be back on Monday (28th) and I can't wait to give it a try. I have company in for the next two weeks so a long ride will be out, but after everyone is gone, look out!
  4. I may give it a go if I can get home in time on Saturday. Hopefully I will have my seats back from Rick for the first "test ride" with the mod. May see some of you there! Ernie
  5. What can I expect if I go? I am just down the road in Groveland and have never been to this event. Not sure if I am going yet, I have to work in the AM, but may try to head up in the afternoon. I looked over the web page but did not see anything real special. Thanks for the info! Ernie
  6. No, never made my way to the museum, missed that one... My son still lives in MI, said the roads are just awful. I have to say, I picked a good time to leave for warmer weather!! Ernie
  7. That's a lot of water in pic two Puc! Hope all is well back in Michigan. I used to live near Vassar where the Cass River would take its toll on the down town area. Still remember the flood of 86 like it was yesterday. Ernie
  8. After a 200 mile ride yesterday, my seats were shipped off to Rick today...I too had enough. Ernie
  9. I still have the 79F that my dad bought off the showroom floor. And yes, a member of XS11.com as well.
  10. It looks like the Maverick by brother used to have, I just don't know the model.

    Why

I lived in Michigan my whole life. We bought a vacation home in Florida in July of 2012. We took several vacations down to the house. March of this year we were backing out of the driveway and I looked at the wife and said its time to move down here. She agreed. Got home and started getting the house ready to put on the market. Listed it the Friday before Memorial Day and accepted an offer the following Tuesday. Who would have ever expected that in Michigan! Left the house for the last time on June 21st, only wish I would have done this 25 years ago..... Talked to my son yesterday - he was on his way home from work and said it was 18 degrees. Told him I washed and waxed the car...
  12. Well, I made the change from the chatter box set up to the scala rider team set. Took some time to get it set right ( speakers in the helment position ) but I have to say, they work great. My wife and I can carry on a conversation, or when she has had enough of my endless babble, she turns on the music. You can sync 2 blue tooth devises, we have our phones synced. I listen to my iPhone, she listens to her galaxy. All is good...
  13. I have a 1979 XS1100 F (standard) that my father bought new in March of 1979. Great, great bike. The key with the XS is to shift it with authority. There is a 2nd gear issue on some bikes, wher it will "jump" out if gear. The oe fuse panel is weak as well. Be sure to clean all connections, the charging system is somewhat weak.
  14. Bought my brand new "still in the box" when I looked at 2009 in Sept of 2011. Just over 2 years later, only 6,000 miles on it. That will change, moved from Mi to Fl! Year round riding!! Ernie
