  1. heh.. true!
  2. Supposed horror story. Again, you have no idea what the military does, or puts up with. Shot at, blown up, picking up pieces of people that 10 seconds ago were talking to you, shooting at wild dogs in self defense. No.. it was not fun. It was survival. There is a difference. You can ask any combat vet, he/she will tell you the same thing. As others have stated, you can not just quit... there is no union establishing safety measures, there is no "oversight". You do what you are told, or go to prison. You say I do not deserve any kind of compensation. How do you propose I get these nightmares out of my head? And you say I am fortunate.. that there is no need for any kind of compensation... Look at it this way then... My military retirement is my workmans compensation. My back is shot, I have metal fragments in my right leg, I have lost 20 percent hearing, there is constant ringing in my ears.. I guess I am fortunate.. I only have to work 2 jobs now, while being in pain. Thank you for pointing out how lucky I am.
  3. Eh.. I only made it 3 times.. but all the jobs that count were while I was military... And thanks for the support from the folks on this forum!
  4. Are you kidding me??? I spent a year living with the Iraqi Army, sleeping on a Hummer, and shooting at wild dogs to keep them away before they chewed on us. Sir, you have no earthly idea what the military puts up with. But I will still defend your ability to have your opinion.
  5. USAF, 22 years, retired this year in August. Was on food stamps as an E-3, because military pay is below the poverty line. My entire career, there was ALWAYS a conflict. I was deployed for 14 years of my 22. Been shot, blown up, spent countless milestones away from family and friends. Could not attend my fathers funeral, due to being deployed. Missed both of my kids being born... you get the picture. My "grand" retirement is 1900 a month, before taxes, reduces it to $1650. My TRICARE medical comes out, now down to 1600. Survivor benefit (so my wife can get 600 a month if I die in the next few years), now down to 1450. Now dental, 1400. I HAVE to work a second and third job to put my kids through the University of North Dakota. Just me.. but cutting my bennies leaves me a bit chafed...
  6. If I live in ND, but work in MN, does that count?!? Like to attend if the schedule allows. G
  7. Post 9/11 GI Bill.. Transferred to my kids. They are using it now.
  8. This... Absolutely true. TV is off, I am having my one beer tonight, in and thinking of my fellow friends that did not make it back.
  9. Good luck, be safe, and military retirement is a bit different... start planning early.. Just retired in Aug. If you have any questions, drop me a line. G
  10. Thanks! Also.. I don't have any of the bolts, just the hitch and harness.
  11. Just going by what he said.. I can put some pics up in a bit.
  12. My P.O. just handed me the factory hitch and wiring setup for my 85 Royale. I have no need for it. Anyone interested?
  13. I use original bounce dryer sheets, and mothballs in the camper. Steel wool anyplace that you can see light through once you pack it up. That's about it. G
  14. Packed "Timmy" away Wednesday (wife named the bike). Now working with Skydoc for all the winter part and upgrade projects!
  15. So, last question for a while... Where would you suggest I purchase parts from? I prefer to stay away from ebay. Good site/dealer to use?
  16. With tire off ground, and just enough force to turn, it does bounce. Front tire does not show any signs of cupping, but I plan to rebuild the forks this winter (since I have been reading about the common problems with first gens...) Thanks for all the help folks! G
  17. Front tire is at 70%, I don't think its the tire due to the wobble being noticeable at less then 10 MPH. I am picking up tools to check and re-torque the neck bolts, front shocks don't leak, but I am reading up on them as well.. What is this "superbrace" you speak of???
  18. yep. . had no weight on the tire when I checked it. (at 45 degrees). shook it when light pressure on it. found the process in the first gen manual
  19. Thanks. Put the bike up. stays at 45. Soo.. with the tire on the ground with light pressure on it.. I shook it left and right. Seems like something is loose. I searched the first gen, but cant find the link you speak of. Might you be able to re-post for me? Thanks again, G
  20. So, I looked through the threads about wobble... but not sure if what I have is classified as the dreaded wobble. Low speed turning is where I notice it. Nothing really noticeable at any speeds over 10 MPH (unless I am just writing it off as vehicle speed correcting it) 1985 Venture Royale, 70K miles, not sure if the previous owner replaced anything. Tire pressure is fine. Should I start with the head bearings? Any other ideas? Thank you.. G
  21. Right now, we are in the 80's. Rain in the forecast for Wednesday, looks clear for this comming weekend.
  22. what is the price of one of those?
