  1. Just installed a 2001 RSV starter in my 86 VR! 1000% better now with the 4 brush versus the 2 brush (when it would work, before it got a flat spot). I have done nothing else, and the bike starts instantly every time! If you have issues starting just get the newer starter. Mine was a used one off ebay for a total of 60$ including shipping! Replaced all cooling system plastics (90° elbow and thermostat cover) and every oring on every joint as long as I had it all apart! The 'drip' of green is gone! Do the upgraded starter if you desire to rid yourself of starting issues!
  2. Skid ... If you still have that hitch for an 86 Venture I am very interested in it. Please PM me with your price! Thanks in advance ... WTNewton
  3. David ... Any chance you still have that markland hitch piece? If so, I can certainly use it! I bought a bike with the entire hitch installed except for that piece. Please PM me one way or the other! Thanks in advance! Wayne
  4. Earl ... Sorry to have had this happen to you. I hope something has happened in your favor concerning this 'event'! It is obvious you are an innocent party and someone other than you should be on the hook to make you whole again. Any update?
  5. You should do two more checks ... And if either one fails replace the stator ... 1. Measure the output voltage at the battery while running at 2000rpm. It should read 14.3 volts or greater. If not then your rectifier may be bad. Search for rectifier test on this site and test it. If rectifier is bad replace it. 2. With bike not running, key off, and the 3 white wire plug disconnected, check the resistance to ground through the stator side of the plug to ground. All 3 wires should read open (OL). If any line reads any ohm value, even a .5 ohm or less, replace the stator. Also, there should be about .5 ohm between all of the 3 combinations of the 3 wires. My electrical system passed every test but the 14.3 volt test (only 13.5 on my bike) and the stator wires to ground open test ... All 3 were shorted to ground. Changed the stator and all tests are good now! Good luck!
  6. What is the size of the oring for the thermostat cover? Specs? I will go to Ace if I knew what to look for. Thanks!
