1. I feel yor pain also I just went yesterday to get the reg.and plate done for my bike got done at work early today hoping to go for a ride low and behold it was spitting snow
2. I got laid off from a decent job but three months at home was getting boring so took a lot lower paying job turned out to be a god send after fighting cancer three years ago the third shift life with a family was getting rough no sleep and working weekends now I have a day shift job and weekends off more time with the family and more therapy sessions on my bike sounds great to me:cool10:
3. If ever in eastern Pa there is a outlet in the Poconos I went into a Wilsons Leather store last year and bought a 4 piece luggage that strapped on the backrest of my old cruiser was $187 paid $110 they had plenty of coats gloves any leather you would want at real good prices
4. So been thinking about it and talked to the boss after the weather clears planning on a meet and eat bbque at my house for one day then a ride over to wellsboro to the Pa. Grand Conyan about a hour and a half to two hour drive. We have a big paved driveway for plenty of parking for bikes thought I would take a vote on here see if anyone is interested and plan for next month if all goes well. We both just got on day shift I have weekends off probably on a Sunday afternoon let me know how that sounds we are in Sayre Pa. just off of route 220 all hard road no dirt to travel.
5. Glad I live in Pa. my course was free after I got my permit Leather coat was $160 helmets came with the bike after I bought new half helmets last year only about $120 for those and ins. for a 88 for liability is only $93.90 for the year and I just got 2 points on my liscense in Dec. so guess I got out cheap bike already has what I need with intercom in the helmets and all the accesaries work but the class unit
6. Ya oi pan is fine and I do beleive the housing for the oil filter is part of the engine cast right dingy so just going to keep an eye on it had it running for half hour or so and once it warms up the o-ring swells enough to seal it maybe next winter figure something out till then it's getting warmer and I'm dieing to get it out on my maiden voyage
7. So keep seeing a couple o drops on bottom of the filter cover finally got under it and took a good look come to find out someone has bottomed the bike one to many times and bent the bottom of where the filter goes not the cover but the piece on the motor think it will be ok once it warms up it quits dripping so going to keep an eye on it don't want to take a chance on it cracking if I try to straighten it any other ideas
8. Well finally back to work been laid off for three months. Not the best pay but work all days 6 to 2:30 weekends off so worth the lost in pay means more time for the bike this summer. Also since I got day shift my wife got to go onto days working till 3 or for every other weekend off so looks like we will be able to go for a ride soon. Get the bike registered this week I hope get a few local rides then hit the road soon.:cool10:
9. I seen a pair on ebay in motorcycle parts I searched xvz 1300 think I saw them under either body and frame or other parts tonight
10. I wil let you know if I go that way anytime soon depends on the wives schedule keep me posted and let me know the address. Is anyone else been looking at the bike I saw it on cl also but after I bought mine. Send me a message if you want I go over that way all the time.Oh ya I'm the one in Sayre and my parents live over that way so let me know whats up with the bike
11. so doing the chevron techron soak go out today and one carb is just pouring out the gas took the airbox off and can see the gas coming out every time I turn on the ignition so try tapping on it pour more cleaner in the overflow blow through it still coming out so go old school turn on the air compressor and start blowing in the holes every one I could find finally got it to stop.So hopefully tomorrow it is still good to go think I'll get a new filter before it plugs up again. got it all put back together someone else must have had it apart cause only one screw was holding in the piece under the air filter. Oh yeah got the bike back together after the rear tire nothing like a leaking valve stem leaking after all that work got it fixed without taking back apart thank god
12. I do go without sometimes in pa but with the 88 venture my first bike with intercom probably will be wearing it most of the time a lot easier to hear whoever is on with me
13. 84 I think is sealed could be wrong but anyway take off chrome trim at bottom of windscreen then two screws at bottom of headlight trim ring then two bolts behind that top of headlight pull out top first if the light just quit working pull out on the start bottun it had me fooled when my headlight quit
14. My foam liners were wore out and no liner in left side saddle used the other two liners for a pattern and left them in under the new liners now the treadmill belt is a soft rubber coating on the top side so it should help keep things from sliding around a little bit and looks good.
15. Runs in my family to mom is type 1 brother is type 2 they keep a close eye on me since fighting cancer 3 years ago had a real bad year 2012 back up to 300 can't wait to get out in the nice weather start the garden and get moving again I had lost 70 pounds 4 yrs ago and felt great have to do it again so I can aviod the diabetes.
16. did the rear when I removed the tire for new tire install changed the gear lube in rear greased the splines and axle before putting it all back together with the new tire. It is all done now just doing some upgrades lined the bottom of trunk and saddlebags with the belt off an old treadmill wired in a 400 watt power inverter in trunk it has a usb output in it now thinking about lining the rest of the trunk. all back together ready to go.
17. Ok now I've read the post looked at the pics of the progressives install for the front. Didn't take pics wish I would of the bolt and two nuts locked together worked great for getting the caps off. Now for the spacer I didn't use the provided spacer when you take out the original parts the is a aluminum spacer under the cap then a long steel spacer with a curved washer that goes into the springs. I turned the washer over to fit into the aluminum spacer and reinstalled it on top of the progressive spring and it worked perfect was just long enough to get the springs down past the threads. Now I figure the aluminum spacer has two advantages it is a tight fit into the fork tube and is not going to shift around or wear uneven from any rough road and I didn't have to worry about having uneven spacers on each side. Also I did have the front off the ground and had no trouble getting the cap back on during reassembly. Just wondered if anybody else had thought of using this method of spacer instead of the pvc that is included. Just food for tought.
18. I t bought my 88 royale last month been all through it and same as you just dieing to ride as soon as the snow stops
19. oh ya the bomb shelter stopped after work a few times drove from emporium to port allegany every day so where was your 11 acres in roullette most of my family is from there I spent a lot of time there spent 35 years of my life in that area
20. Ok you inspired me snaggletooth I've had a 400new watt power inverter laying around for a while so took it and used the wires for the trunk light and wired it in now I have a usb for cell phone and two outlets have to wait till payday to finish then I'll post some pics.
21. If you know coudersport you might know port allegany then I go there about every other month hoping this year make a few more trips on the bike reason I bought the bigger one I'll have to let everyone know when I will be heading that way this year. I'll have to map out all the ice cream stops on the way
22. Take a ride to the dam in the spring when the mountain laural is in bloom it lines the road on both sides all you can see and smell for a few miles
23. Now theres a good idea i'll have to see what I can come up with. Been trying to figure out how to wire up a power port.
24. After pondering for a while about the foam liners in my trunk and saddlebags they were pretty wore out being 24 yrs old. My wife got a new treadmill so I tore the old one apart cut the belt and used my foam liners for a pattern they fit great and sure they will last long as I own the bike.
25. Ya it sill isnt the smoothest ride and pay attention to the corners they sneak up quick. Agood ride for me is taking RT6 west stop at my parents and go to Mt.Jewett Pa to Kinzua Bridge the old trussel that was wiped out about 10 years ago now they made it into a sky walk then to Kinzua Dam
