Midicat Posted Monday at 06:57 PM #1 Posted Monday at 06:57 PM (edited) This has been bothering me since I bought the bike and now is the time to address it. Left side of seat there is a bracket that extends past the base of the seat. This bracket is a pain in my thigh.. Can anyone tell me if it is required or can i remove it? It is mounted with 2 screws that are removable and aren't holding anything else. Edited Monday at 06:59 PM by Midicat
Marcarl Posted Tuesday at 12:36 AM #2 Posted Tuesday at 12:36 AM Looks to be a heat deflector, but seeing as you are now old enough not to be producing as much heat as to when you were of a younger age it probably won't effect the engine at all. Or you could just cut part of it off and have a unique look to you machine.
M61A1MECH Posted Tuesday at 12:57 AM #3 Posted Tuesday at 12:57 AM I asked a Yamaha rep about those pieces one day at Bike week in Daytona Beach, he told me the left one was designed to deflect gas away from the hot exhaust in the event the tank was over filled. He got a little upset with me when I pointed out to him that their display bike had the left and right sides swapped. He scurried right over to bike to confirm and then found a tech to fix it. Anyway I see no reason why you cannot remove it if it bothering you. I remember burning my legs on those round guard rails they had on the original Royal Stars heads.
