Clocking (indexing) a used tire

Recommended Posts

Is there a way I should clock or index a fairly new tire on a wheel

from another bike?

All /any markings the factory may have put on the tire are gone.

I think I should just mount the tire and balance it but being as OCD as i am I thought I should ask.

If you really feel like messing with it...

Find the heavy point of the wheel without the tire mounted and mark it. Then mount the tire but do not seat the bead. Find the heavy point and mark the tire. Move the heavy point of the tire opposite the heavy point of the wheel, seat the bead and balance.

I think I'd just mount it and balance it if it were mine. Unless it takes a stupid bunch weights, that is.

A common sense approach; you're a good man Charlie Brown!
