Tiresmoking Posted July 27, 2018 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2018 On my 84 Venture I noticed a tube sticking out with nothing on it.(carb #2 ) There is a small diameter hose hooked to where you synchronize the carbs. Can’t really see where this small hose goes to yet until I start pulling more stuff off. Should this small hose go onto the tube and the tube for the sync gauges be plugged off? luvmy40 Posted July 27, 2018 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2018 That's where the vacuum line for boost sensor connects on the '83. Is the '84 boost supposed to be there as well? I have no idea if it is supposed to be used, capped or if it should not be there on the '84. Any chance a PO put '83 carbs on?
Tiresmoking Posted July 27, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted July 27, 2018 I believe it is a 83 motor but wasn’t sure on the carbs. Maybe switch the hoses and plug the other off. The hose is a little big but tighten it with better clamp.
luvmy40 Posted July 27, 2018 Share #4 Posted July 27, 2018 Do you have the '83 or '84 TCI? The boost needs to be connected to the No. 2 carb vac port with the '83 TCI. I do believe it needs to be on the intake manifold/boot on all other years. Don't take my word for it. There will be others here who know for sure. Tiresmoking Posted July 27, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted July 27, 2018 Does it matter which year of tci I have. I have the original motor for it but the guy said it had a blown head gasket. I like to replace the gasket and put that motor back on because I was told it has a lot less miles on it.
luvmy40 Posted July 28, 2018 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2018 The '83 TCI is unique. If the Engine and carbs are '83 but the TCI is '84 the boost should go to the intake boot and the vac port on the No. 2 carb body should probably be capped off. Marcarl Posted July 28, 2018 Share #7 Posted July 28, 2018 The way I would approach this, is to take the rubber vac line that is showing with the yellow restrictor in it and attach it to the tube that is circled. That is the way my 85 was set up, might be the same for yours. Try it, and if it works then all is well.
