headset problem

I got a j&m set (the inexpensive set) got it installed and the intercom part works good but the raidio i can bearly hear. I read the owners manual and dont know. any info. ya'll give me some input what im doing wrong

How does the radio sound over the external speakers? The wiring in the HS for the ear pieces is the same for IC and Radio so there is nothing wrong with the HS if you can hear the intercom.

 

I don't mean any disrespect to you, but did you select the HS option? If you are hearing the sound coming out of the external speakers you won't hear it in the HS unless your IC is up and then it will be picked up in the mic. Which is not what you want. It's one or the other so you need to push the middle button on the audio control until you see Ext or HS, if you see Ext stop there and push the up down arrow until you see HS then press select. If you have the helmet on be sure to turn the volume down before selecting HS or it could be too loud.

 

If this is not the problem, then I would assume there is a problem with the wiring coming off the radio. That I can't really help you with.

Assuming this is a 2nd gen. then go with what Salty suggested.

 

If a 1st gen. check your mute button.
