sho_greg Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 I can't remember if the noise is normal.. changed stator and changed mounting bolts to a allen cap style.. wondering if the head may be to tall..
etcswjoe Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 Does it sound like a buzz? If so one or more of the bolts are loose.
sho_greg Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 I will have to take some video... might be normal.
Flyinfool Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 There have been some people that replaced the stator bolts with ones that are a bit to long so that they bottom out in the hole and are not actually tightening down the stator. I am not sure just how long the heads would have to be to hit the inside of the flywheel.
sho_greg Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Anyone remember length of stator bolts? Can't find the originals... guess I'm going to open it back up..
etcswjoe Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 (edited) Anyone remember length of stator bolts? Can't find the originals... guess I'm going to open it back up.. A member smarter than me shared that the part numbers translate to the size on most screws and bolts, the stator screw part number is 98507-06035-00 so the "06" is 6mm diameter the "35" is 35mm long. sho_greg Posted March 1, 2016 Author Posted March 1, 2016 Thanks.. makes sense... have another question, what kind of replacement bolts did every one use... I put cap style stainless Allens with red locktite in (they may have been 30mm in length), and everything was good for a little while, then it all went to pot...
etcswjoe Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 I ordered new stock ones, I had the screws come loose when I replaced my first one (that is how I knew about the buzz) I either did not let the Loctite cure or I did not clean the holes out good enough. I cleaned the holes out and waited 24 hours before I reassembled everything and good to go.
sho_greg Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 Here is a sound clip... wasted 3 hours going back onto stator. Then still had noise... what was I thinking... who knows the sound? https://youtu.be/WsBfybSGeh4 .
