sometimes people see way to much picker shows and stuff

i went out to look at a honda cb360 so called barn find

 

i should have took pictures.

 

well i went to this farm house about 3o miles from my place

 

got there went out to the barn there was a brown cb360 so he said?

 

turns out it is a cb350. ok still interested as i had one at one time.

 

ok story goes it ran 5 years ago before he parked it.

 

tires have rot and flat stops from still in the same place on very low tires.

 

gas tank was full but stank like varnish.

 

so carbs are going to be torn down and cleaned?

 

she turns over.

 

brakes will need work.

 

has chicken poop on it.

 

has 4500 miles on it.

 

i thought ok good winter project

 

i offerd $500 thought that was fair?

 

he said he wont let it go for less then

$1200.

 

sorry to say it is still there:rotf:

 

he said he saw people pay way more for these LOL

Sounds to me like you was the "Picker"...

 

Not that there's anything wrong with that .

 

I figure, If I can't get a price over the phone, I won't waste my time going to look at it. He could have said $5000 and that would have made you more angry...

 

 

There are way to many people here in WV that state "price available on inspection" ... that's a red flag to me that says stay away...

I personally think you did the right thing by walking away. I love the old Honda 350s. I've owned a couple of CL350 Scramblers and it's one of my favorite old bikes. I bought one a few years ago that needed NOTHING. Very nice bike. I think I gave 1500.00 for it. Kept it a while and made a very little bit on it but not much. Here is a picture of it exactly as I bought it.

I agree...

 

Even if you got it for $500 you'd have $1200 in it to get it in decent riding shape if you counted your labor...

 

probably double that if you took it to a dealer...

 

Just saying not to look at a bike if the buyer doesn't have a price ready...

I agree. These picker type shows along with Barret Jackson type stuff have killed any deals anymore. Everybody that has a rusty old hulk prices it like it a family member becaus he saw one sell on tv for x amount. Crazy

now if it would have been that 4cyl one I might have went for his price.

 

I too loved that old 350 I had. but back then living in MN I need a good running truck at the time. and I traded it for a nice 1964 f 100 pickup. and I wish I still had that old truck too.

I agree ,Way to many people get a distorted concept of Value form the [NON reality ] shows and Media. Best buy is a done car or cycle form a Divorce or Estate Sale. That little Honda will bring a couple hun at that guys Estate Sale.

Another one that makes me laugh is Antique Road Show on PBS. I wonder if the appraisers would be willing to actually buy that stuff for what they say it's worth.
