ENG2242 Posted July 20, 2014 Share #1 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) I realize there are a variety of filters to utilize on the market. My primary question is are K&N air filters okay to utilize on these bikes? Also, do you can and truly manufacture an oil filter that is within the same specs of the Yamaha filters? I certainly don't intend to establish a debate I just want to know from those of you who utilize those products. I've heard to stick with the Yamaha oil filter due to the internal/valve pressures and so on. I don't know if that is nonsense or if in fact it's true. dvuch1 Posted July 20, 2014 Share #2 Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) have a kn air---don't use it....to thick and oily. I just bought a WIX 24933oil filter at Oreillys auto and they have it for the 86VR and it comes with the big ORING for the housing and the oring for the drain for 7-8 with tax. I had been spendng 11-12 for the yamaha filter alone and 5 for the housing and -2-3 for the drain ring. I'm not sure on the quality but it should be fine..I run synthetic and change oil every 3-4 k because i like my bike. No debate it works for me. BlueSky Posted July 21, 2014 Share #4 Posted July 21, 2014 NAPA sells one that is made by WIX also. I recently bought one and it came with the little and big O-rings.
