Tisunac Posted February 27, 2014 #1 Posted February 27, 2014 Anybody have any experience (or opinion?) with the airbag-style jackets? I'm seriously considering purchasing them for my wife and myself, based mostly on reviews and testimonials that I could find online. I do understand that some of them might be fake or form a shady source, but all of them (including reviews from some magazines and official blogs) rave about them, considering them as important as the helmets. So, before I purchase them (and they are not cheap, unfortunately) I would like to consult my fellow Venture riders. I'm considering Hit-Air brand, model JP-3 (men) and FR2 (women) form BikeBone. Thanks for your input.
bongobobny Posted February 27, 2014 #2 Posted February 27, 2014 I've seen videos of them a while ago and they seem like a good idea but no, never owned one and would like to hear the same as you...
djh3 Posted February 27, 2014 #3 Posted February 27, 2014 My luck it would bounce me into oncomming traffic.
syscrusher Posted February 27, 2014 #4 Posted February 27, 2014 God no! Say it isn't so! It's not long now before the politicians will require us all to wear them.
VentureFar Posted February 28, 2014 #5 Posted February 28, 2014 Short story on Airbag. Buddy riding the first year Goldwing with airbag hit a cliff at near 70 degree angle at 50+ mph and he lived because of the airbag. Not sure I would wear one. Sure there are documented cases of the few people wearing them walked away from traumatic body injury accidents but really, why are you riding a motorcycle in the street with all those bad drivers if you are that concerned about 1/3 of your body being mangled. What about head trauma -even with a full face Dot helmet? what about your legs and arms getting mangled? Buy a Miata or mini cooper and have a lot less to worry about and you still have the wind in your face. VentureFar...
