Danaman Posted February 25, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 25, 2014 Are all the 99 to present gas tanks the same? Can you remove the tank decals from your old tank and install them on a new tank and if so how do you do that. Do all the different tank decals have the same contour to fit on a replacement tank or are they just flexible enough to fit.
awsmsrv Posted February 25, 2014 Share #2 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) They aren't flexible. They just have to go where they match the contours of the tank. There's no difference in the tanks on the different years: 99-13. I don't think the tank on the RSTD is the same, however. So, be sure it's a Venture tank. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. Oh, forgot to answer your other question: just use some fishing line in a sawing motion to remove them. You will have to use some strong type of double sided tape to re-install them. Edited February 25, 2014 by awsmsrv Answered other question

When you say decals I'm assuming you mean the Venture badges on the sides of the tanks rather than the disclaimer stickers. To remove the badges, you can use something like a fishing line and work it under the badge to separate it from the tank. It is held on with double sided tape so a bit of patience and it will come off. As for tank shape....I believe the tank is the same whether it is a '99 or a '13. Not much changed over the years of the 2nd Gen.
bongobobny Posted February 25, 2014 Share #4 Posted February 25, 2014 Heat applied to the badges also helps soften the glue along with the piano wire thing. Some people like the looks of them without the badges...

Barrycuda Posted February 26, 2014 Share #6 Posted February 26, 2014 I would also recommend dental floss for easy and methodical removal of badges
