cruzin123 Posted May 9, 2013 Share #1 Posted May 9, 2013 I have a 1999 Venture and have noticed on occassion that a small amount of coolant leaks from these rubber drain plugs behind the covers on the cylinders. Does anyone have more information, like Yamaha part numbers to order these? And looks like they pull out easily, so probably not too big of a project, just top up the coolant at the end. I have read that a dime will add some extra pressure to stop the leaks but since the bike is from 1999, I want to replace all 4. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest Posted May 9, 2013 Share #2 Posted May 9, 2013 Im about to do mine in a few minutes. You use the top tip of a spark plug, the ones with threads to pull the old plugs out. XV1100SE Posted May 9, 2013 Share #3 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) Found it - 90338-11152-00 PLUG,SPEC'L SHAPE If you look at the parts diagram (http://www.venturerider.org/private/RSVparts.pdf) under Crankcase (page C7) it is part number 9. Partzilla (http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/yamaha/YP-90338-11152-00.html?gclid=CP6rg9qxibcCFYU-MgodYnUA6w) shows list price $5.74 and their price $4.36 If you haven't changed your coolant in a few years you might want to consider doing the whole job. Isn't very difficult and doesn't take much time. When you pull those drain plugs you will lose coolant and the tip is to cut off a soda bottle ("pop bottle" for us Canadians) and catch the coolant as it drains out (cut bottom off bottle and screw lid on top). I did a search for cylinder drain plugs and this thread came up. Saved me gobs of time trying to find that little plug in all the parts diagrams.
