star4772 Posted August 14, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 14, 2011 I have Yamalube 4 stroke oil SAE 10W30 API/SJ left over. Can I use this in my 08 RSTD for an oil change before I head up north. Next change I want to go and get Syn. oil. Joe :confused24:
bongobobny Posted August 14, 2011 Share #2 Posted August 14, 2011 Hmmm, not sure on that, Yammi wants a bit thicker oil in the 1300...
flb_78 Posted August 14, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 14, 2011 YamaLube 10w30 is fine in the RSV. Inside the trunk, it recommends to use 20w40 or 10w30.

Grisolm1 Posted August 14, 2011 Share #5 Posted August 14, 2011 Only in the winter would I use thinner oil. I have a pressure gauge. These things need thicker oil.

CaptainJoe Posted August 14, 2011 Share #7 Posted August 14, 2011 Not sure if your RSTD has clutch winning problems, but, it is ok to use that oil in your bike. The reason i mentioned the winning problem is, on my second oil change last fall, I used Yamalube 10w30 and the whinning got markedly Louder... so i switched back to Yamahalube 20w40. Hmmm never thought about that I really have no whine so maybe I better get the 20/40 or even 20/50. Thanks for the reminder. Joe
