kenw Posted August 8, 2011 Share #1 Posted August 8, 2011 Has anyone ever pulled a dent out of sheet metal? My wife has a dent in her vehicle and I heard that dry ice can shrink the metal and pop out the dent (not large), and was wondering if anyone has ever tried it. Thanks

Snaggletooth Posted August 8, 2011 Share #3 Posted August 8, 2011 Yep, works pretty good if the dent is smooth. I've done quite a few from hail damage, (God bless the Midwest) and "most" of them don't even show. A nice flat slab of dry ice and wrapped it in a thin flannel cloth. Hold it onto the dented surface and wait. Some of them can take a while. I'd sometimes hear a small "click" and it would be pulled back into shape. If there is a sharp crease in the dent it won't work very well. Ya got some heavy gloves? Gets a bit nippy doing it this way. Worth a try anyway. Eck Posted August 8, 2011 Share #4 Posted August 8, 2011 Not sure what your dent looks like but you might try a toilet plunger.... believe it or not they work too.. Yes, wash it off first....duh...... and the dent area needs to be wet so plunger sticks real good...
