Leeway Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 I'm looking at replacing my brake pads all the way around. What brand & where is the best place to purchase them? I also want to look into the stainless steel reinforced hoses. anyone with thoughts or suggestion in this area? wayne
sarges46 Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Try Rick at www.buckeyeperformance.com , He has all the parts you need and carries the steel cables made for the 1st gens. Good to deal with too.
Squidley Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Wayne, Rick at Buckeye is a good source for the braided lines and EBC HH pads are a real good set to use, have 'em on the '99 and I'm very pleased with them.
Venturous Randy Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Like Brad said, EBC HH brake pads. The ones I got were that plus they said "Superbike". It has made a huge difference in stopping my 83. It was part of my upgrade in pulling the camper. randya
Leeway Posted October 3, 2006 Author Posted October 3, 2006 Thanks Guys, I'll try the "EBC HH" I'll check with a local shop to see if he's got what I need in stock. If they haven't I'll shop the net to compare with Rick.:)wayne
Guest Flash Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 The kevlar type stop you quicker but wear quicker. I have just replaced mine with sintered type pads. Stops really well now. I had the kevlar type in before, once they wear down there is little stopping power.
Al Bates Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 EBC HH pads are the only break pads I'll use, I will try others but alway go back to EBC. Don't have to be HH I believe HH is higher heat (Heat I think)
Starrider04 Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Same here use EBC, good brakes at a good price.
Tartan Terror Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 On the steel braided hoses I use nothing but. The thing I like about them is that the lever and pedal are much firmer. On rubber hoses when you squeeze they expand a little and kind of loose a little of the force. Because of the Steel braid the Steelbraid hoses dont stretch the same and it is more a positive feel. I use Dot 5 fluid in mine as it is silicone based and wont absorb as much water as well as not hurt the paint if you spill it. i have this done to both my bikes thought opinions will differ. I also did the clutch like too.
