answer to my own question

I had asked yesterday what the back up fuse work for. Well I finally followed it through the wiring diagram. You will all be happy to know it fuses the audio and cb system. Sure enough without it, no radio or cb.

The primary function of the back up circuit is to supply un-switched 12v power to the radio.

 

This enables radio to maintain time & station presets.

 

I would hazard a guess that the RSV's have a some sort of long life battery internally as well, due to odometer storage.

Glad you found something that agreed with what we told you. :shock3:

 

BTW - page 7-33 of my owner's manual has the fuse clearly identified as being for the odometer and clock, but like I told you in the other thread, it is not just for that. It is really for all the electronics that have some memory requirements that need to be "backed up" when the key is off.

But I am glad you agree with what I found out. I will be more carefull next time about asking questions you already know the answer to but just haven't thought to post yet.
