Guest motohead Posted September 11, 2006 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2006 I have a 89 VR and on Friday it started idling VERY fast.It now is idling at or above 3,000rpm's.I checked and lubed the throttle cables and replaced to the fuel filter and it did nothing.I also sprayed carb cleaner on the intake boots and it did NOTHING.This all started all of a sudden. It was idling at about 1,000rpm's and the next time I pulled in the clutch it to 3,000 and has been there ever since.ANY ideas ????? sarges46 Posted September 11, 2006 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2006 Stuck choke? Have you tried adjusting the idle knob?
Venturous Randy Posted September 11, 2006 Share #3 Posted September 11, 2006 Check to see if you may have had a vacuum hose come off. randya
BradT Posted September 11, 2006 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2006 If the choke is not stuck, and the cables are all working fine, try seafoam. Had a similar problem and it went away after a few tank fulls of gas and seafoam. Brad
Condor Posted September 11, 2006 Share #5 Posted September 11, 2006 Mike Junes had the same problem at VWIII. Started on the way to Sue-ville. I can't remenber what all the 'wrenches' finally found to correct the problem, but maybe one of them will chime in here with words of wisdom...
