rain and cold riding gear

I have to start driving 50 miles to get to work. I can no longer bring the company truck home. What kind of riding gear is the best for rain and also in the cold weather? A lot of people talk about the frogg toggs but the way the size chart looks they won't work for me. I'm 6' 2 and 190 pounds. My jean size is 34 x36 and it's hard to find that without them being to big in the waist. For anyone with advice on the cold weather what is the coldest you have used them in? Do you guys us your regular boots or is there a certain boot that you bought for cold? I have never ridden in cold weather so I'm not familiar with any of this. thanks tim

I actually like riding in cold weather but I don't like riding in the rain so I'm not sure what would work for both. For cold weather I bought a heated jacket liner from Tourmaster along with something for my neck. With thermal long johns and socks, regular slip on boots the only thing that I can't keep warm are my hands. I'll probably get some heated gloves this fall. That jacket liner is great...feels like riding with an electric blanket and works well in freezing temps.

I wear a Aerostich Roadcrafter until they start calling for about 85 degrees for the ride home. Then I switch to a Joe Rocket mesh outfit and haul a rainsuit. If its hot enough I don't care if I have rain protection. The Roadcrafter is very expensive but American made and also well made.

Personally I am loving my new Tour Master Pivot II jacket. It's great for warm to slightly hot weather with out the liner and with the liner it's great for the cold weather. Plus it's water proof. I bought mine here. http://www.bobscycle.com/browse.cfm/4,100236.html

I also use Tour Master Venture Air (http://www.bobscycle.com/browse.cfm/4,100403.html) mesh riding pants that have liners for rain and wind protection and a thermal lining for colder weather. When it's really cold I also have Tour Master Caliber Weather Proof Overpants (http://www.bobscycle.com/browse.cfm/4,91997.html ).

If our local to the Twin Cites area on Minnesota you'll want to shop at Bob's Cycle store. They have a large inventory and they will work with you and let you try on everything in the store.
