Snaggletooth Posted May 19, 2009 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2009 Ok, the last thing I have to do on my wiring is find the wire from the factory horn buttom so I can locate it to use it as a trip for the relay on my new LOUD horns. I already removed my old horns and built a new harness for the new ones but that may have killed the old circuit. When I am probing the wires in the handlebar harness I'm not finding a hot one when I push the horn buttom. And yes....the key is on. Thought I might ask before I have to tear down the switch control to see what it is.
MiCarl Posted May 19, 2009 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2009 I believe that hot is supplied to the horn by the ignition switch and the horns are activated by providing the ground through the button. You should be probing for the wire that grounds when pushing the horn button. On my upgrade I just plugged the relays into the connectors for the stock horns (saved doing any thinking!). bongobobny Posted May 19, 2009 Share #3 Posted May 19, 2009 Yup, MI Carl is right on the money!! That's how I did mine, too! The horn switch just supplies a ground, thru the pink wire, I think, and the 12V comes from the brown line...
Dano Posted May 19, 2009 Share #4 Posted May 19, 2009 Same thing here, just pulled the wires back up into the false tank cover area and plugged 'em right into the relay. Dan
