Saddlebag latch broke

Right rear saddlebag on the 99 is broke. You can unlock it and push down on button but no tension on latch. It's not working the release. I can't unbolt it until after it's open. So how can I get it to release? I have a shop hammer close by but not that desperate yet.

Are you sure it is latched all the way? Try pushing down on it and see if you can engage the latch fully. If it's not fully egaged it won't release.

 

I had a tire gauge in the small compartment in the top and it kept the lid from closing all the way. I couldn't pull it open and the latch wouldn't work. I pushed down and the latch closed all the way. Then the button would operate the latch. Just a thought.-Jack

I have the left saddlebag that won't open, it saddlebag has a small touring bag in it and

I can't seem the get it open. The fro9nt latch seems as though it is latched but the rear one is not. Any suggestions?

I had a problem with mine.

 

Teh front lachtch was set but the rear was not. Look to see if the cover is down all the way around.....

grab the lid and twist it a little and they will pop open.
