  1. I am on my phone just seen you have a 07 mine is a 91 might be different
  2. I replaced mine a few years ago. It can be done. They are kind of H shaped, I used a little black rtv on the tabs to help hold them in place. Just take your time it can be done. Mine don't leak any more. Was worth the battle of swapping them out.
  3. Update. Operation brakes... Finally. Did not do anything different than I have been doing the last few days. Got off work tonight. Came home burped banjo again. Cut tie wrap off brake lever. Pumped lever nothing. Took cap off master cyl. Took brake bleeder out of caliper and waited for it to drip bleed. Put bleeder back in. Filled mc, put cap back on used a tube into a bottle of brake fluid, pumped till no bubbles. Filled mc repeat, strong brake now on front. Have done nothing different than what I been doing.... Now on to next project... see what I can screw up next... :stirthepot:then hit the panic help button...LOL Thanks; everyone I appreciate all the input. Hopefully will have this back on the road soon...
  4. I appreciate the info! When I traced the line I seen it was electrical under the dash when it came out of the jacket almost looked like a fluid line up to that point. I am aware of the bleeder up by the forks and I know the brake lever is the right front caliper that is the one I can't get bled.
  5. Alright fellow riders. I finally got around to upgrading my forks with progressives, replacing bushings, and seals in my forks to include adding dust seals that was not on my 91. Now I am having trouble getting the air out of my lines. I have read every post I could find. Burped the banjo, used a tie wrap to hold the brake lever back with the master cyl lid loose. Tried to drip bleed the front brake. I have not gotten speed bleeders yet, that is a latter project. I just want to get this bike out of the garage for now. Have not used a vacuum pump yet. Just trying to get air out of this system. I had the anti dives off when I redid the forks. I keep reading where people are bleeding the antidives and even googled how to do it. Problem is every pic I see they have bleeders on the ad's My antidives do not have bleeders. How do you get the air out? After I added the oil in the forks I pumped the snot out of the forks until there was no bubbles in the fork oil. For the life of me I can not get the air out of the front brake line..... Suggestions greatly appreciated! Thanks guys this site has been a great help, just can't figure out how to bleed the ad's...
  6. Thanks, I had already read it and watched the you tube video, but I plan on checking them out again before I do this.
  7. That is my plan. I ordered the dust seals today and plan on using aftermarket boots too.I figure the more p rotection the better.
  8. Thank you I will go ahead and order it then. I was planning on running 10 wt as I am 235 and my wife rides sometimes. I appreciate the info!
  9. Thanks Gary. I will order them and the after market boots. I think they are 16 bucks and up. They might help protect against the forks getting dinged with bugs or rocks.
  10. This is what I got when I entered my info. This does not fit your: 1991 Yamaha XVZ1300 Venture R…
  11. Tried to do this with my phone, but could not. Mine does not have the seal. If I order 26H-2344-00-00 Do you think it will fit? Thanks, MJ http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d101/TJ41/th_20140316_200500_zps8f11f604.jpeg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d101/TJ41/th_20140316_200439_zps390426e5.jpeg
  12. Thanks Gary. I have had this in the garage since last summer. Have not tore it all the way down yet. I have been working too many hours and not had the time to stay with this. I did order the progressives and parts I listed. Just did not see the dust covers off the site I ordered from. I have some other things I am doing while I got this down. Hoping to get everything done soon tho. I plan on doing this with the forks still on the bike. My boots are tore pretty bad. Am hoping aftermarket boots will work. After researching other years I seen prior to the 91 there was a dust seal not listed on mine. That is when I got to wondering if I could add the dust seal for extra protection. When I get this tore down I will let you know. Just trying to get what I need in advance. Thanks; for the help! MJ
  13. Got a couple more questions. I ordered yamaha oem metal slide (3JJ-23125-00-00) x 2, oil seal (INL-23125-00-00) x 2, piston front fork (3JJ-23171-00-00) x 2. Appears the 91 1300 VR did not use dust seal 26H-23144-00-00. If I order that can I use that to help protect seals? My boots are torn and I can not find OE boots for it. Does anyone know where I can get the boots? I found some on amazon that might work. Going to try them if I can't find anything else. Also wondering if I add the aftermarket boots and 23144 dust seal if it will help protect the fork seals. Has anyone else done this on your venture? Thanks, MJ
  14. Thanks for the replies I went with yamaha parts. I will check out harbor freight.
  15. I am upgrading to progressives and replacing fork seals and bushings on my 91 1300 venture. Wanting to get a tool to seat seals on forks. Found some cheaper ones on ebay hoping this will be a one time use, but not sure what size to order anyone know what metric size I need for the seals? Push comes to shove I can get a digital caliper to measure the forks, but if anyone knows it would be appreciated! Thanks, MJ
  16. Does anyone know what size tool I need to seat my fork seals on a 91 venture royale 1300? I have been looking on ebay and just want to get a cheap one. With any luck I will only need it once. Looks like they range from 43 mil to 50 mil. Thanks, MJ

  19. Hello fellow venture riders. I have not been on here in awhile. I have been pretty busy. Last summer I had a seal on my right fork blow. I am just now getting around to trying to get it done before spring gets here. I have a couple questions. I have been doing a lot of research on here. I plan on going with progressive's and replacing the seals and bushings with yamaha parts. I was reading where some people use the sealmate. I seen that and figured it would be worth a try. I made one from an old thin plastic card. I got a lot of junk out of it, but it did not work. I have not tore it down yet and I read about using panty hose to check for burs. After raising the boots up I got a rough place on the right fork. I can feel it with my fingers. Is that something that can be polished up and if so, can I use emery cloth or will a dealer have to do this. I don't know if I should just replace the parts and hope for the best or if I need to address it now? If I have to replace the forks where is the cheapest place to get them? I do not want to drop a lot of cash into this project right now. Someone asked about the boots and if they were a pressure fit. Mine were and I also had to remove the fork brace it was holding them in place. My boots are ripped on both sides. I have not found replacements online other that the universal ones on ebay. Will those work? I appreciate your comments and want to thank the forum. There is a lot of info on this site. I have a 91 venture 1300. Thanks in advance for any advice!
  20. Thanks, Squidley! I appreciate the info!
  21. Yeah, I plan on replacing the seals, but I was reading where guys was going with the progressives. Figured this is a good time to do that.
  22. OK; I had more time to look at this. I thought it was a brake line as my left side was loosing brake fluid. The sight glass was almost empty and it was running down the right fork. It is the fork itself that is leaking under the bottom of the boot. What is my best option of fixing this? I have read where some of you talk about going to progressive. What all do I need to do to this and can anyone suggest a place to get what I need and a link to get to how and what to do to fix this? Thanks in advance!!
  23. Gary, I sure appreciate it. My plans was to replace them all, but if I make this move I need to get it road ready fast. I am still going to replace them all, but I might have to do it after I get moved and settled in. Had some stuff I was going to do to it this winter anyway. I don't like tearing it down during riding weather, but the hose ruptured on me on the last trip we was about to make. I hate breaking down, but if you are going to break down the driveway is the best place.
  24. Can anyone tell me if this will fit a 1991 venture royale 1300? I plan on using skydocs to replace all of mine. Right now I might be moving out of state very soon. I need to get this fixed fast and this is priced right for a quick fix. Thanks! N.O.S. YAMAHA P/N 26H-25873-21-00 LOWER FRONT BRAKE HOSE VENTURE ROYALE:mytruck:
  25. When I bought mine number 3 was dead. Later another cylinder was running rough. I tore it down last winter to fix some oil leaks and replace the carb holders. When I took my coils out all 4 were cracked on the bottom. 2 of them tested good, 1 hit and miss. I replaced all of them along with new caps, wires and plugs and it has a lot of power now. Amazing how much when all the plugs are firing...
