  1. I sold my 91 1300 VR last summer. I was going through my garage and found that I still have 4 brand new pads. My membership expires in 2 days and I am not going to renew this time. I don't have time to place an ad, and if it is ok to post them here I will take $25 and I will pay the shipping. Can use paypal or will take a check. When it clears I will ship. I am in West KY. If you want to see pics, I can text them to you or email them. my number is 270.804.0608. (text please) Thank you. Admin, if this is not OK please delete. Thanks.
  2. 02, high miles, but completely rebuilt by a local HD dealership. 7 grand in the motor. Big Cams, performance chip. Will smoke a tire in 5th. I bought it off the first and only owner. He put a lot in it and everything was done by a local dealer. Has health issues and can't ride anymore. Powder coated the wheels and forks. The speakers at about 1/4th volume will blast you off the bike. He took care of this jewel.
  3. I usually keep a bike about 5 years. Think I have had the VR about 7. Really a nice bike. My dad always had Electra Glides. When I was in diapers he put me in front and off we would go. I have had harleys, but not a electra glide. From the time I was little I wanted a electra glide. This is my first. I was tinkering with it yesterday, but instead of using my tools. I broke out my dads old tools about my age. Stood there and got a good laugh. I just imagined him wrenching on his 60 models.
  4. Well; I did it. went back to HD. Just bought a Electra Glide. Put the VR up for sale. This is my new ride. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d101/TJ41/th_KIMG2013_zpsfthcdgcg.jpg
  5. No. The day I can't ride I am done. I am 54. Started riding when I was 8.
  6. I finally got it off. The left is 1 in the right is a inch and a quarter. The sleeve on the right the od on the bar is 1.25. The id on the grip is the same. 1 in on the left.
  7. I finally got it off. The left is 1 in the right is a inch and a quarter.
  8. Are you sure 7/8ths? I measured the right and its 1 inch. When I put my info in the search it came up 1 Inch left 1.25 in right. Right appears to be 1 in also. It showed the vr's as both.
  9. Yeah it's the throttle side that I am having problems with. I have moved it a 1\4 inch. The right side appears to be 1 in. If that is the case I have more grips to choose from.
  10. I got the left off. Still working on the right. From what I been reading the left is 1 in. The right is 1.25 in. On ebay a bunch said they would fit. After clicking on it they were all 1 in except for 3. Slim pickings.
  11. I have 91 VR. I am wanting to replace my foam type grips. The times I have swapped them on other bikes there was a screw or set screw. Are these glued by chance and what is the best way to get them off? Thanks!
  12. What I did was I just stuck the axle through it until I put the wheel back on. I had the washer on the end and not between the swing arm and bracket. When I put it together is when I looked at the Yamaha manual. The washer is what keeps it in place. Sorry for the confusion. I thought the shoulder should not go through the swing arm and bracket. When I seen it did that is when I was thinking about putting a clevis in the 2 holes.
  13. http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d101/TJ41/PART_1440381212084_zpsh3racxzb.jpg It will go through the swing arm and bracket. I just went out and pulled it off as I am not going to torque it until I get the front wheel back on. 91 VR
  14. That is exactly how it is put in. That is how it came out. I also checked with the Yamaha manual parts diagram to make sure no one else put it in wrong. The only reason why I know it will go thru there is I like to put parts, bolts etc back in when I have something down a couple days so nothing gets misplaced. With the wheel off that is when I discovered with the pinch bolt loose you can shove the axle through the swing arm, bracket and caliper. If you put the axle in the wheel by itself the shoulder won't go through. That is what got me to thinking this could get ugly if the pinch bolt ever came loose.
  15. It will pass through the caliper, bracket, and washer when the pinch bolt is loose. That is why I was wondering if something happened to the pinch bolt. It won't pass through the wheel tho.
  16. I did not try just sticking the axle through the wheel tho. I had put it through the frame and bracket to keep it from walking off in my garage like things like to do out there. Especially tools. They like to play hide and seek. That is when I got to wondering about it going through the other side.
  17. With the pinch bolt loose I can push the axle through towards the final drive. Not talking about the cotter pin holding the nut on. I have the wheel off and stuck the axle in. That is what got me to wondering if a clevis was put in there as a added safety measure if something happened and the pinch bolt did get loose.
  18. Is it just me or has anyone else has the inclination to put a clevis pin or something in the 2 holes in the rear axle? After looking at this the only thing I see that holds the axle on this side is the pinch bolt. Seems like a good contingency plan would be to have a back up if something happened to the pinch bolt. The other side (final drive) has a cotter pin thru it retaining the nut. What would keep the axle from walking out the final drive side if the pinch bolt became loose?
  19. Dang, that was fast. Monday I ordered the front tire. Yesterday I ordered the back tire. In less than 20 hours the back tire was at my house. Waiting on the brakes, front tire and ordered Ride On from ebay. It was cheaper there than any other place I could find. I was debating between that or dyna beads. I liked the puncture protection.
  20. I just ordered the blackwall 777 in a 120-90-18. Never have used this tire before. I usually get pirelli for bikes, but could not find that size in a front tire only found rear tires.
  21. Yeah, from what I have seen online. I have found none for sale around here. I figured 3 grand was a good price. There is a lot of goldwings listed around here. Not sure if I am going to keep it through the winter or list it now. I figured spring would bring out more buyers. I might just end up keeping it. Been thinking about getting something else. Have had this 5 years or longer. I have kept the same woman for 25 years, but I like to get different bikes to change things up...LOL
  22. Thanks for the comments. I was on my phone at the time and can not post pics from it on here. $3000 is what I was thinking about asking. Seen 80 models listed for $2900 http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d101/TJ41/PART_1439658638885_zpstq6h9b86.jpg
  23. I have been thinking about selling my VR. I have not been able to get a blue book on it since it is a 91. I have looked at VR's for sale to get an idea, but would like to get better read on it. I am at work and don't have the miles as I did not ride tonight. It is sound and a good looking bike. The only thing it needs is new tires, which I am about to replace and the steering head needs new bearings. I will also replace these before I sell. What are your guys opinions on it's value? Thanks in advance.
