  8. While removing rear wheel for tire change, removed rear caliper and noticed it has 4 pistons. 2 aren't moving causing pads to wear very unevenly. Thick on end where no motion and thin on end still working. Can I rebuild the caliper? How difficult is it? Who has parts? Would I be better off getting another caliper if possible?

  14. Is it possible that I have some other problem? Lights still brighter than normal, volt meter pegged at 4000 rpm. Checked voltage at battery showing 13.5 to 14.5 volts even at 4000 rpm. Note this is with bike sitting. Seems like something else is going on when riding. Any thoughts?

  19. Hey Guys, Checked valve clearances yesterday, all within .001. Also pulled left side main fairing off, needing to check cabling for carbs and cruise control. Fairing is coming apart in small pieces especially at the bend that comes off the radio and down by the knee. Superglued it back together from the top and then fiberglassed the inside. Seems to be ok, anybody else run into this? What else can be done other than replacement? Thanks
  20. Oh yeah, sorry, but to respond to your questions: Didn't notice anything strange going on with the tach and no discharge below engine after riding when parked. Only happening when temp gage goes above half. Thanks again
  21. Wow, you guys are an awesome group, so glad I joined. I will start with the easier fixes first. I had the carbs rebuilt about a year ago , so will rule carb issues out at this point. Thanks again fellas.
  22. Hi guys, I have a 1988 Venture Royale that runs fine when cold and as long as the temp gage shows it's at or below the halfway point. In warmer weather it seems OK until I need to stop for say a red light, thats when I notice the temp gage go above half and the bike starts to run poorly, sputtering upon acceleration from a stop but seems to clear up when the tach gets up to 3 grand. Any ideas on what's going on? Have changed coolant with no help. Thanks Ed
  23. I have a 1988 Venture Royale. Just noticed that I don't have a taillight. Checked wiring harness, replaced bulbs, contacts are clean. The dash computer shows no faults upon start up. Any idea what is wrong. Noticed it while at Road America last weekend for vintage bike racing. It was awesome. Thanks Ed
