The F6B is a six cylinder? I'm going to guess you would need to adjust to the SV V-Twin vs 6 cyl power delivery. Two different animals IMO.

After talking to the lead mechanic at the shop he said the other Yamaha mufflers have a chamber system on the inlet side of the plug. He said I would be fine to drill a hole in that plug but to be careful to not go to deep after it punches through because the cat is somewhere behind that plug. He said there is usually a couple inches of space between the plug and the cat. The other end of the muff, the inlet end has the cat a few inches inside. No way to get through that to get to that plug. It is mounted at the rear with an "L" bracket that is welded to the muffler and then bolted to its mount. I have muffs from my HD so when I get some time I don't know what to do with I'll do some checking and see if there is a possibility of the change. Going to drill holes in it first. Not knowing the exact construction of the muffler I would absolutely hate myself if I got to pounding away in there and damaged something when there are no aftermarket replacements yet. That said, I'm going to drill a hole in the plug starting with 1/4" and progressively go larger if I feel the need to. The guys at the shop are still trying to get info from Yamaha on exactly how they are constructed.

Sorry for the delayed reply, was out of town with family for a couple days. My V-Star 1100 was a 2001 so I don't remember a lot about the power delivery of that. First, you are talking about a difference of 800cc larger displacement Second, the weight to power ratio is probably also very different. Third, the SV has MUCH more torque than a V-Star 1100. Lastly, the SV has different power settings available. That said, because it has been 13 years since I had my 1100 the only real thing I can tell anyone about comparing the two is...there really is no comparison. What they have in common is they are V-Twins but they are very different in power delivery. Both are torquey motors but the SV has it more...everywhere in the rpm range. Weight changes the perceived power delivery but lugging this new SV is still as easy (or even easier) than the 1100. The SV just has a lower high rpm limit and in all honesty I don't ride a touring bike at 6,000rpm!! The SV has the power delivery in exactly the rpm ranges this bike is supposed to be ridden.

Yes, ordered it months ago on the day the first press release came out. All preorders are getting filled first but I would think they would be getting close to the end of that. I don't know the exact number but there were a LOT of preorders for this bike.

...I pulled off the end cap of the right muffler to see is there is an easy way to give the bike a little bit more rumble. Under the end cap reveals a fully welded and sealed end of the muffler. No easy way to get that off to modify a baffle or two. I take a look down the muff from the back end and see a baffle (for lack of a better term) inside a ways. On the outlet side of this baffle are holes in the main exhaust leading to the outlet. So, the exhaust gasses must come through the cat at the front of the muffler and empty into some type of chamber and pushed around the baffle and into the holes for the outlet. The baffle is 12" inside of the outlet pipe and what I don't know is what is on the other side of that. The guys at the shop believe if it like many other Yamaha Star bikes, it is an open-ish type area. My question to them was this...if I was to drill a 1" hole through that baffle would I damage anything on the other side? They weren't sure but didn't think so. The lead mechanic was going to try and find out how the muffler is constructed and that will tell me if I am safe to drill of not. I'm reluctant to do it without knowing what is on the other side because if I damage something there are no aftermarket mufflers out yet, or heck, not even any OEM mufflers available to replace it with so I am going to hold off for right now. By design I keep my circle small and my efforts to help out a man of the brotherhood of LE have fallen onto his deaf ears. Your insistent accusations and refusal to answer direct questions, even by PM, will get you called out in the LE world and as an experienced officer you should know that. Your choice to act that way. Absolutely...The 05 RSV was pretty top heavy compared to the 2001 V-Star 1100 I came off of, but expectedly so. My HDs were less top heavy than the RSV but not by a huge margin. Any full on touring bike is going to have some top heavy feel to it because of all the things that are on them but this Venture has a substantially less top heavy feel to it than any of my previous bikes. I'm sure part of that is I sit more "in" the bike than "on" the bike. I can do full lock figure 8's at slow speeds and I do not feel like I am in any danger of falling over. I haven't had the CEO on it yet so I cannot comment on the two up feel but I would guarantee it won't be as bad as the RSV or HD's in the top heavy aspect of things. What I really am impressed with is the ease of standing it up off the kickstand. Hardly feels like a touring bike!! Slow speed handling is also much better than the RSV. I think some of that has to do with the size differences of the front tire because by nature the fatter front tire on the RSV will steer slower. There are also other things that come into play like chassis geometry, rider positioning, etc. The SV has a lower center of gravity and that also have a big impact with slow speed handling. One thing I did find (because I have some nerve damage in my right wrist and it may not works the same for everyone) is with the handlebars in the stock position I didn't feel as comfortable with slow speed handling. Once I raised the bars up a few inches that feeling all went away and slow speed stuff is much better for me. Again, that might not work for everyone.

I'm taken aback that someone in your position is unwilling to accept the help of an experienced LEO who knows how to find remedies for these kinds of issues. I find that discouraging. I will, I'll be at the shop in the morning. He and Scott still run the place. "Crack bars"...I LOL'd. There are crash bars, you can barely see them by the foot brake and shifter. Just enough exposed to be able to get highway pegs bolted on. I understand being critical of something so drastically different from what we have come to expect from a Venture. The thing is Yamaha wanted to step deeper into this market and had to make every effort to one up the competition (HD) with unique things on this bike. I liked the V4 of my 05 RSV and I had hoped they would have modified it for this new bike The reality is the V4 would not get very good fuel economy for a touring bike and people would have complained about that too. When I step back and put my mind in neutral, the V-Twin really does make sense for this bike. Torque out the ying-yang, a chassis that is stable at 115mph, so I heard , and the infotainment system that does everything but pour your coffee. I really think it took some guts to step up and go into uncharted territory for Yamaha. I think they did a really good job with it and the best thing is the engine platform is proven for longevity.

Since I am trying to help you out what I want from you is to get honest answers to the specific questions I ask you instead of a bunch of ranting answers about how crooked you believe the system is. I am not saying the system can't be crooked. What I am saying to you is, my advise that is based upon sound third party logic and judgement is solely based upon your side of this whole scenario. Discipline is a reason he wouldn't have been getting commissary. Do you know if there is a public access to the report that led to your brother's arrest? Since you want to continue your tirade on the local Sheriff, local gov and the media then your answer is what...You have not contacted any of the folks I listed above? Are you then insinuating the Attorney General's Office for the State of West Virginia also takes marching orders from a local Sheriff? I call BS on that. Why haven't you contacted the United States Department of Justice or the FBI? There are many avenues available to you to use in matters such as this, whether you choose to use them is up to you.
