Look at the drive shaft and cup in the final.drive it sounds to me like the drive shaft might be skipping in the cup had that problem on a few I worked on and it sounded like the problem was in the middle gear.
What year is the bike?

Rick just go for a short ride down south this way and then call her and tell her the bike broke and the cost of repairs is almost as much as a new bike that should work.

Jeff go find an A&P mechanic and have him do a standard sheet metal repair to it with solid rivets it will never be an issue after that. Or you could drive it down here to NC and I can do it for you.

Thats alot high it should be 13.2 to 14.4 on the output what is it showing with it fully loaded high beams driving lights radios ect on full?
Whats it showing if you put the meter on the 20V setting where you should be testing it at?

For everything but the heads I would leave the motor in but it would be easier to do the heads out of the bike as I am not sure if the head studs would come out easy enough.

They only made the 450 for two years 1986 and its either 85 or 87 I dont remember all I know is its in the yard and I have to clean the carb Mini already has its matching 250 we purchased them both from the original owner

Definitely look at the trunk mounts as well as the radio box's one might have vibrated loose

Need to work out some issues with LED lights I added, blink rate is randomly speeding up and slowing down.
I would suggest you run a secondary ground wire to the trailer the random speeding of the lights maybe ground related

So I go out and let it warm up and the cylinder is as hot as the others. I got out for 2 hours , come back and it's still as warm as the others. Argh. Ill keep my eyes on this and the coils
So it fixed itself that's a Venture for ya

I have seen 2 second gens with bad coils on the right rear cyl check for spark on that plug to see if that's the problem

Post a picture of what you have on your bike because Ventures did not have handle bars that were fixed from the factory and maybe we can lead you in the right direction.

From 1990 on, there was only one pick-up. Wouldn't that preclude using an earlier TCI?
Yes the 1990 to 1993 is more of a computer than a regular TCI and will not interchange the one I tried would not even let the bike produce spark

Swifty not all that Ob-1 says is the reason your stator looks the way it does after pulling my first one out of the blonde looking pretty much like yours does now I asked my dealer and he said it's because the bike idled alot and rode at slow speeds alot the bike did alot of 25 mph riding on the base my second looked nothing like that 40k later all highway miles.Make sure the oil hole in the center of the magnet assembly is open
