Thanks man ! Yes, I spend more time wrenching than riding for sure. I sill have the gl 1100 and was the only bike I had professionally painted, way too expensive! But came out beautiful. I just sold the Yamaha 180 a few days ago to make room for this one. Hate to see it go but the proud new owner was beside himself. This build is going to be interesting and I've found the right forum for sure. Will keep everyone up to speed throughout the build. Good luck with yours too.

Yes, I will definitely reinforce the frame being mindful of muffler clearance and such. As far as titling the bike, no problem in this state. Thanks for all the concern too. This forum is for sure a second family and I've only just begun !

I'm not familiar with this bikes stock design just yet but those lights did seem a little odd and I think they are on the back of the saddlebags too. MMMMMMMMMMM.............

Yup, me that was. I'm still familiarizing myself with the bike and I think this frame is everything I need. Just add sub frame to it. Thanks for the ebay link too, that was a bargain!

Began teardown today. Also just bought a frame so hopefully it will work. Thanx again for everyone's help and suggestions. Also a big shoutout to puc on his offer but I just couldn't make the drive.

I believe Pucs is still a rolling chasis, so I would have to drive up there and I can't.

I really appreciate this information. One way or another, I am going to have a beautiful bike. I just have to get past this frame issue. The ad I just found could work , if I knew for sure that it really has 24,000 miles and if the frame is true.

Found this https://ksu.craigslist.org/mcy/d/waterville-yamaha-venture-royal/6837357127.html says 24,000 and looks like it was wrecked. How do i know if its 24,000 , could be 124,000. within driving distance . if its 24000 , frame is probably good, engine and 2nd gear too. Thoughts?

Although this is a very nice gesture , it's just not feasible for me , considering time off from work. I think I might try fix this frame. It won't know for sure until I get the bike flipped over. Again, very generous of you .

Bad news !!! I found the breaks in the frame !! Exact same spots as yours were. I am freaking out right now!!! To me my best options will be to find a newer frame that Yamaha fixed ! I will just transfer everything to that frame. Wow!!! This is going to be challenging! What year frame do I look for? Please help , someone!!

When the po mentioned the battery leaked onto the frame and caused it to break , I thought to myself, " what a load of hogwash!" I just removed battery and looked underneath battery tub and all is good. Why did I look anyway? ........ further down the bike I took this pic of harness/ bracket attached to rear shock and all looks good. When I get the front forks rebuilt it will raise bike.

Ignition key fits and unlocks saddlebags but not trunk. Separate key for trunk or has trunk lock failed. Also , there are 2 locks below trunk which I assume unlocks trunk from frame, ignition key does not unlock these either.

Still exploring. The po closed off the air vents and removed air ducts. On the right fairing compartment he placed a makeshift light which connects to that toggle switch. Looks like he just wanted more easily accessible storage space. He lined that side with foam and carpet. what is the extra set of fuses he wired to battery . He placed these in an old plastic cassette tape box. Other observations: tires are virtually brand new in terms of tread depth but we're made in 2009. I still will get some picks of the frame connected to rear shock.

Good advice. I've restored many goldwings and am well aware of the costs to restore these old bikes. I'm also ver frugal when it comes to certain areas of the rebuild. This one, I'm taking my time and will not spend frivolously. I won't cut corners when it comes to safety but I am obsessed with getting this bike back to stock, which is mostly there. thanx again for the info.

I thought about getting a CLASS module but nothing shows up on ebay just yet. One thing at a time here, back to frame exploration.

What are my chances the toolkit is still on the bike? If so, where on the bike is it?
