  1. I think genealogies are an old people thing. Some of my brothers are picking up the mantle from my dad and Grandpa who did a pretty amazing job chronicling the Tyler five generations of Nebraskans but not much farther back than that. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  2. Should be cake. I don't want to pull them apart until I have the other one so I get them in the right spot. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  3. I had downloaded a complete owner's manual and service guide but when I went back six months later to check the manual for something it said the download was no longer available. That one was for a 1200 TK. Which is more like my 1200 t. I also have this Electric schematics downloaded. Right now I'm just opening things up looking for the obvious and have found some fairly obvious things! There is a 10 amp ACC fuse, perhaps that's what I'll use to power my Outlets. 4. Thanks! It plugs into a common headlight. Seems like it should be easy to find something that will work. There's no clearance issues... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  8. Headlamp issues? Maybe one culprit? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  9. Cover me! I'm going in! First glance, here's how the first two relays are rigged. Rubber holders gone, boot on second one looks to be disintegrating. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  10. Exactly the kind of Thrills I can't wait to give those Harley Riders and why I picked the first gen and over everything else Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  11. Sound advice. Thanks. I left out the intermittent/always wrong fuel gauge, too. I MEAN REALLY? HOW MUCH COULD BE LEFT? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  12. Went with new. Still leaking somewhere. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  13. OK. I'm not screaming anymore. Sometimes things just overwhelm me and I just need a little foot-stomping, screaming hissy-fit to get back to seeing clearly again. Since the dog decided that 5 AM was a good time to puke on my bed, I got him over paper towels in time, I figure it's a good time to pull out the real keyboard and put some thought into this. Now he's snoring and here I sit talking to you guys! And people told me I NEEDED to get a dog... What helped this time was 7 hours of windshield time and taking care of some patients around the State yesterday. Good time to reflect on all the progress that has been made and to lift my eyes to the next challenge. You all have shared tips for most of the things on this list and now I just need to find them and follow through on my end. It's all on the list because it's good to be reminded how close I really am getting to being able to CTFW at will.) From off the top of my head, here's what has been done so far... -New TDI box -Front fork seals and springs. (OEM springs, don't think they were progressive) -Transmission rebuilt and 2nd gear fixed. -Replaced Clutch Springs -New Clutch Slave -New Drive Shaft seals and final drive gone through -Fuse box replaced with mini-fuses -Valves adjusted and new Valve cover gaskets -Carbs rebuilt, (Leak to be addressed) -New plug wires and caps -New brake lines (Except the one's from the rear master down to the plunger, and they look bad but I haven't found the lines with Banjo on one end and then straight connection coming from bottom of master cyl.) -Upgraded the Stator cooling/oiler -New Shinkos F & R -New Exhaust (Take-offs from a Road King or Road Star? Harley) -New Windshield Current electrical issues... -Upon reflection, when I picked up the bike this last time, the mechanic again told me about one of the relays on the back of the dash that is "In horrible condition". He said he did a bunch of zip tying to hold wires there up out of the way and as much coverage from weather as he could get. This is probably what's blowing the fuse (This is where it bumped to the 20 AMP, but now even the 20 is blowing) -Headlamp intermittent issue between no high or no low but one or the other always works, just never know which bump is going to bring up the warning light and require flipping the switch to the other (Either high or loW) -Two current issues, the leaking carb (front left) and leaking Clutch hydraulics have been discussed with the shop who did the repairs and they fully intend to make it right. Now arguments. Just tell me to bring it in. We've agreed that I will address some of these other issues before I bring it back in to get their part right before Spring. -Need to find a collar wrench to check torque of my triple-horn. (Each of the three times the shop has had it, I get "Swimming" at different speeds. Was around 90 MPH, then 80 or so, then 90 to 95. I'm thinking I need to check the torque at the triple horn. Tires are balanced, inflated and suspension has been adusted, 17lbs. forks, 48 lbs rear shock.) -Need to reposition handle bars to my comfort (I like them up and forward. I ride gravel and not great roads at times and I believe this gives me better control, like a dirt bike, on these surfaces at slower than highway speeds. Still comfortable enough to sit for hours and eat slab all day.) God blessed me with 36" sleeve length arms which is only a curse when finding dress shirts with a skinny neck and long arms...but that's another deal...) -Like everyone, I want to find better plastic parts and repair what I can. Pretty sure I've mentioned that the PO was a little guy, 5'7-8" and he dropped this girl a few times. The last time, she lay on her side in the back yard for a year and half) -Need locks for mounting the saddle bags. My Original key works to open all bags, gas cover, trunk mounting lock, but the locks to hold the bags on just spin without moving anything. -Need to do something to repair the clamshell closiers on the bags. Trunk is good but bags don't line up and are wonky. NOT broken, just don't fit nice anymore. -New pinhole in top left corner of radiator. Can these be repaired or do I have to find another radiator? Here's a thought from yesterday's rumination that I came up with, what do think? "My wanderlust needs no destination, I only know I've got to go!" Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks. Yes, it is brake fluid. Master was down over half way. Need new windows in both my brake and clutch masters. Mine are all crunchy but not leaking. I topped off the clutch master and it's been sitting on the side stand for two days and not a drop has dripped. Only rode 2-3 blocks since replacing the clutch springs and parked it where it is now. 18. It was electrical that where everything started this spring. I've been down every wire in that thing 3 *. But not lately. I know my Dash has issues. And I'm green with this bike but, I do know not to jump up in fuse size because of a problem. Kind of why I'm pissed off, that I would get it back without that being addressed when he discovered the problem when putting it back together. And I will always find a way to blame myself before I would dump on another person face to face. These are good guys. And they were trying to get me riding before the year was up. They know about the carb and the clutch leakage and want to address that I've just got to get it back up there I was doing some things like the clutch springs first and now I'll Trace this down and then I'll get it back to him so he can get the clutch leak properly fixed and carbs finished in tuned spring. 19. Most of my outrage is not at them. It's just everytime I think I finally have solved of major stumbling block I go backwards 2 or new ones pop up. I did however get my clutch springs replaced, which was quite simple but a nice little place to start, changed the oil and filter, reattach the drain tube from my radiator to the Overflow at the throat of the radiator, it was running so with the 20 amp fuse blown I took a little 2 block ride and the clutch seemed not to slip like it had been. 20. All Yamaha parts whenever possible. He insists on it. In fact for a seal on the drive shaft they couldn't find a ended up finding where the guy in Omaha who bought out a Yamaha dealership when it closed in 96. So he had New Old Stock Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  21. It's also going back to them because the #3 ? Carb, left front, continues to leak after they rebuilt them and have had them off twice to get that much done. Soooo...I've lost all my super nice-guy just work with me and I'll work with you attitude and I don't think they'll like red-face-vein-poppin'-spittle spewing me.
  22. From the research I did on the 83 prior to buying it, I don't recall the article about how loving Mama Yama would drive me back to the bottle, but she's tryin'!
  23. Alright, you've all heard much of my tale. NOW, here's what I've got... When they gave me the bike back, the guy who worked on it said he had to go to a 20 AMP fuse in the 15AMP- Ignition slot because it keeps blowing the 15 AMP. IT DID NOT DO THIS PRIOR TO THEIR DOING $3800 OF REPAIRS. I had started it and run it a few times with the 20AMP in place. No issues. NOW, turn on the ignition and it blows the 20AMP immediately, knocking out my tach and display on the dash. Those are the only symptoms I notice. He did not have a 10AMP fuse in the ACC slot, which is the only one that I left as a glass fuse since the ends of it were fine and it holds nicely. I put in the 10AMP. Started ran a couple of times. NO problems. Took out the 20AMP he put in the Ignition fuse holder and replaced it with the correct 15AMP fuse and it blew. Put the 20AMP back in and it blows. Twice. They tore the dash down and had the handle bars off while replacing my brake lines. That is when he started blowing fuses and went to the 20 AMP. Again, none of these problems existed prior to the last time they worked on it. Am I out of line to expect the bike to come back in the same condition they got it only with the repairs requested having been made? They said the clutch slave was leaking so it was replaced, (Not rebuilt). It's still dumping fluid down there somewhere. So in my mind, NOT fixed! That was a bunch of money to put into this thing only to start more problems. How much is their responsibilty and how much is mine? S WHEN DO I GET TO BLOW UP and expect it to be made right? Do I have to pay to get it right if the problems weren't there prior to their having it?
  24. I have two locks to hold my saddlebags in place and both of them the key just spins inside of them. Is this something that can be fixed? A locksmith or Lock Company? Do I just need to find replacements? I have the original key to my 83 and would love to have them all on the same key. Any help would be great? Also, Puc, do any of your old first gen's have the clutch cover case in good condition that you'd want to sell? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  25. In my mind it seems like that's the outside of the ring that holds the bolt and should not cause a leak since two-thirds of the circle is tight. Guess I better check fleabay for a cover... Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
