  1. Reading over the posts....I gotta say,...I still don't know anyone who's had it....or anyone who's been sick...or certainly anyone who's died from it.....and I know a lotta people..... Just sayin'

You are a lucky guy, my wife lost 2 very close friends, one early 50s other early 60s and it was from the virus. This was early on, no one allowed to visit, no funeral, very sad for all involved. Probably why I feel alittle different about it.

  2. I was reflecting on Memorial Day, about the label given to the generation before me "The Greatest Generation" how they overcame so much in terms of wars, depression and adversity. How we revere our few remaining veterans of WW2, my father was one, sadly he is gone. Aren't those veterans the exact demographic most vulnerable? If wearing a mask and social distancing helped save even one of them, wouldnt it be the greatest way to show them the respect they deserve? Our Vietnam Vets who were treated pretty poorly upon return from SE Asia, they are now battling all types of medical conditions, war related. Again the most vulnerable demographic, I try to shake their hands and Thank them, maybe a better way to Thank them would be to do my part in stopping the spread of this virus.

Anyway, thats what I was thinking about on Memorial Day, and thats why I do everything I can, to help the nurses and Drs that gave me 2.5more years with my wife and kids.

  3. Oh I thought the same way, bike really looks good without the windshield. I thought if I could get the same feeling as my Madura in the wind, but with the fairing taking the pressure off my chest, it would be perfect. The wind in my face was anything but clean air. In Pa. we are allowed to choose to wear a helmet or not. I dont wear one. Wearing a full face helmet may give you a better experience, cant answer that.

  4. Millwauki always made great tools, no doubt about it. As a remodeling contractor I needed nailers, power miterboxes and woodworking tools. Back then Mill. tools were mostly for plumbers, electricians etc, have they come out with a line on nailers and saws, just curious. I have a 3/8" corded hammer drill from Mill. must be 35 yrs old and it was used hard, still works and never rebuilt.

  5. I would make sure the tank vent is clear by inserting a copper wire or the like in there, then blow air thru vent hose to be sure its clear. Then check fuel pump is working properly, they are known to act up. At what speed are you going into 5th gear, these motors like to rev, it wont pull if you are dropping it into 5th at 35mph. You ought to be going into 5th at 65mph. When you say it runs fine in 1st thru 4th, can you hit rev limiter in each gear? If so you are going way faster the 65. I am sure you will get lots of other ideas, I always start with the easy stuff first. Oh and welcome to the family.

  6. THANK YOU! This thread seems to have taken a turn.

I'm waiting for some silicone sealant to dry then I will see if my first attempt of making a four port manometer was successful. I've made them for 2 cylinder bikes with nothing more than clear vinyl tubing and plywood. I've seen similar 4cyl versions using T fittings but I didn't have any... So I put all four tubes into a common container and sealed it.

Hey if it ever warms up here in Pa. take a 45 min ride over to my place and we can throw the carb tune on her and have you synced in 10 min.

Its a good thing you did not ask what time it is.... Think they would have built you a clock:nanner:

  7. I am sorta glad you cancelled, cause after having to cancel the last 2 years, I would have felt like a schmuck having to cancel again this year. Going to miss seeing everyone, but I think you made the rite call. Really hoping we can all get together in NY this year.

  8. I just dealt with the same issue after my 2007 sat all winter. I took a rag and put some denatured alcohol on it, went in that hole and wiped everything off as good as I could. Cleaned the fins, just wiped it all off. Doesnt smoke at all now. Will keep after it till winter when I will do the valves, and gaskets. You could probably spray degreaser in there and hose it down, I didnt want to splash water all over the place.

  9. Hey Corvairs were great cars! My first car as a matter or fact. I beat the heck out of it, 4spd convertable. Headers, bigger carbs, ran pretty good for a little 6 banger. The only problem I had in the end was blowby at the dipstick. I ended up having to plug dipstick hole to keep from oil spraying all over engine. Ralph Nadar put an end to them, never understood why. I was clocked by Statey doing 105mph, I swore up and down there was no way that little car could go that fast, he wasnt buying it, lost my license!

  10. Hey welcome to the crowd, as far as bars Flanders makes a set for your bike that most guys seem to like. Rick at Buckeye has a complete setup I believe, bars and longer lines incl. Some guys say there is no need to replace lines, just re-route cables. Other guys say they needed new lines./cables. I am sure you will get more info on that from guys who swapped out bars.
