Tires being replaced, Anything else???
ENG2242 replied to ENG2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I am at 9100 with probably 1500 left. The only complaint is they track grooves in the road. -
I hope this was ok, as it held fine. Strictly for the front, I place the hook strap as close to the tree, however, it was hooked on the handle bars. Ratched down about 1.5 inches and off we went. No problems. So, is connecting to the lower handle bar not a good idea? If not where. People were saying in previous posts, they use the upper fork, how?? Thanks David.

Hence, "other's will disagree" Max inflation, 1500 miles, no bounce, very hot day and the tires stayed warm to touch, same on my 35' travel trailer. They are speed rated at max psi. Please, do what your comfortable with.
-
I just rode 1500 miles with that trailer behind me. Please put the appropriate psi rating regardless of weight, and do not exceed 65MPH towing. These tires are rated and they get HOT fast!! I always tow with max psi and stay as close to 65mph as I can. Do what you want, others will disagree. 25psi @ 70-80mph don't do it!!

my 96 rs rides to rough for my bad back
ENG2242 replied to worm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My friend, having come back from an L4 L5 disc explode, that paralyzed my left leg prior to surgery I understand. I will be rather direct. These people know what they are talking about. Do not modify your bike. If you cannot put the kick stand up or down 2 up without severe pain you have no business riding and will be wasting your money. A back rest with good lumbar support and extended handle bars should do it. If not, and you have sought proper intervention from a neuro or back surgeon. Then it's time to leave the bike alone , period. Pain makes us desperate and pain medication fogs reality and is dangerous. My friend, first lose weight, SWIM!!!!!! and gently get your back stronger. Seek proper medical intervention, not a chiropractor!!! It took years of proper exercise and accepting my limitations until I was pain free enough and STRONG enough to ride. No alcohol, no narcotic pain medication. If you don't get to that point, accept the fact that riding is not an option and for gosh sakes, don't ride two up, that is irresponsible and dangerous. My credentials?? Personal experience, 32 years as a Paramedic, 20 years as an ER RN, 25 years as a professional Firefighter and enough certificates and degrees to cover my walls, and I am still on the ladder truck. This is a serious issue and it sounds like you've been dealing with it for a while. So please, either get fixed, get to work on you and your physical health and stay the hell off that bike. Just to let you know. When I started swimming, I could only walk one lap, now I can swim miles after almost two years. God Bless, my intentions are pure, and I do understand -
I removed the Chrome strip on the faring this AM. No problems. However, when I was putting it back on, the center opening appears to be missing a plastic mount to hold the center tab on the strip tight. Is there a plastic insert? or is it just supposed to be open rectangular space? The center tab does not snap and hold, how can it? Thanks David

When I get in an area that provides the difference, I will see if I can get an adequate picture. Really, they are just bright LEDs with a diffuse pattern. They do help a lot at night and definitely add visibility during the day. Of course, there are brighter and better out there. However, for the price and ease of mounting, these do a darn good job. Yes sir, they do have a diffuse pattern. Perfect for seeing deer or objects on or to both sides of the road. Not a spot pattern!! The other gentleman, I described how I mounted them if you scroll down below the picture. If that's not descript, pm me and I will call you. I am on duty, so please give me time if we catch a fire. -

I purchased them at Amazon: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LLHJNEU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]Amazon.com: RioRand® 4" 18W 6 CREE LED SUV Off-road Boat Headlight Spot Driving Fog Light + Mounting Bracket(2pcs 4" 18W): Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51f0vqIO12L.@@AMEPARAM@@51f0vqIO12L[/ame] I drilled out the top mounting hole for the clear plastic shields to accommodate the mounting bracket. I did purchase a shorter 8mmX1.25 bolt with a self locking nut so it would not hit the chrome. Also, put a small bead of silicone behind the bracket in the event it would move after the mount on rough roads. Surprisingly easy and no bounce what so ever, very solid. Then simply ran the fused supply wire under the left side of the tank and finished the final wiring under the plastic cover on top of the tank. You can mount the switch anywhere you like. I did not integrate it with the ignition. I aimed the light just above the low beam light. The fit and finish is clean and it is bright as heck at night and day. David -
Instead of the OEM driving lights, I decided to go this route: Ran the fused supply line under the left side of the tank and used an LED switch. It is not tied into my ignition. Pictures are daytime.
