  1. It could cause you to have an oil pressure drop unless you somehow use a small orifice to only allow a small amount of oil to dump.
  2. Thanks. I found it on Amazon as well and it had a method to check to see if it fits our bike. Says not, but that does not always mean it can't work. Did you have to do anything special to get it to fit and hold between the windshield and dash?
  3. Great video and looked like a great ride. One of these days I will get up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I noticed a windshield bag on your bike. If you don't mind me asking, what brand/model is it? I am new to the RSV world and really trying to decide how to set up my accessories on bars and dash. Still searching for a cell phone holder that I like as well. Again, thanks for the video and hope to see more.
  4. Sounds just like the work of this IT guy as well.
  5. Yep. Have a loved one give it to you as a gift. Has protected me on the crazy highways for years.
  6. Thanks for the tips Boomer. When I went to Autozone to buy a filter, I took the list that was on another post here. I could only find 2 on the shelf that was a match and went with the more expensive one. I am a little concerned about the relief valve requirements.
  7. Yes. I filled it back to the level it was by the PO. About 3/4 up the sight glass.
  8. Made my first oil change in the RSV yesterday. Rode it for right at 1k miles before changing the oil. There seemed to be so much information on here about what oil to use, filter, etc. Heckuva lot easier changing oil in this machine vs a VStar. Being the first oil change, checked the old oil for any shiny glitter, and all seemed really clean at 26.5k miles. Anyhow, decided to use the Rotella T6, Motorkote and went with the Mobile 1 filter. Ended up putting a total of 3 qts + another 9 ozs to get level up to the upper portion of the site glass. Motorkote says 2 ozs per qt of oil. I added a little extra and went with 8 ozs. My bike does not have a bad whine, IMO, but does whine some. Maybe this will make it even less whiny. Guess I need to put some miles on it to see if it works as some claim.
  9. Good deal. Reading this thread makes me want to order a regulator and keep it on the shelf just in case.
  10. I help put on a few bike rides every year, and it amazes me how many guys feel that it is a requirement to pull into a biker bar or American Legion along the route to get a beer. I don't drink, and have no problem with people who do it responsibly. But driving anything. let alone a bike in a crowd of others, is far from being responsible.
  11. Thought about this option too, but didn't think about brass. Guess I will be making a stop at the hdwe store on the way home. Thanks!
  12. Before I sell my VStar, I would like to transfer the highway pegs to my RSV. Problem is RSV engine guard diameter is only 1" and it is flimsy (I know I can get the kit on here to sturdy it up) and the engine guard on the VStar is 1-1/4" diameter. Was wondering if this "crash bar" would actually bolt up to my 99 RSV. Does anyone know for sure? CHROME-HIGHWAY-CRASH-BARS-SADDLEBAGS-GUARD-YAMAHA-ROYAL-STAR-1300-1997-2013-NEW
  13. Many on here use it and say it does not cause any clutch slippage. My whine isn't very bad, but is noticeable. This should make it less noticeable.
  14. I found this video on PlastiFix to be pretty cool and may try this on the 1 crack that I have. Using PlastiFix
  15. I will be changing the oil for the first time in my '99 RSV (have had it for 4 weeks now). Purchased a gallon of Rotella T6 Saturday and have some Motorkote on the way. Should be here Friday. Now I just need to setting on the filter that I will purchase from auto supply store. Have read many comments on these filters and will perhaps go with the NAPA filter. BTW, this site is GREAT!!!
  16. Yep. Found them there. 37 bucks and change each.
  17. Quick search of eBay showed these (just assuming this is what you need without looking up the part numbers??): 4x NEW YAMAHA 96-01 XVZ13 XVZ1300 ROYAL STAR CARB HOLDERS
  18. I just looked up the SpeedoHealer and am curious as to how it is installed. Just a quick high level overview.
  19. Have done that. Also in some situations, do the same as I am coming to a stop and the person behind me is making me a little nervous.
  20. This is a fear that I have. I try to look in my rear view as I am sitting at a traffic light and no cars behind me, but sometimes forget. But even if you see it coming, how often could you have the ability or quick enough response to avoid getting hit. Link to article
  21. Boats.net: Click here Not sure how you order it keyed to your key though.
  22. Being a new member here and from Alabama, I just saw your posts tonight and visited the Facebook page and was touched by Justin and all the updates that his wife has been giving everyone for so long. I belong to a nonprofit, primarily helping families and children that have fallen victim of childhood cancer and since I began helping this organization. I have become more interested in all types of problems that people such as Justin face. We take life for granted. I am currently extremely close to a 5 year old girl and her family that have been battling this disease for 2 years. It seemed for a while that she may have it kicked, but very recently was giving only a couple of months to live. Just really wanted to say thank you for your posts and bringing Justin to my attention. He and his family will definitely be in our prayers. BTW, the non profit in which I help is: Team Thomas J, named after the late Thomas J. Sullivan, aka Superman. A 6 year old boy that passed away with cancer 1 year ago today. I am the one that runs the website, Facebook and manages most of our events, including the bike rides.
  23. I have had them slick before, but maybe not quite that bad. maypop.
  24. I travel that road a lot and used to travel it every day on my bike. Haven't read any details on what happened as of yet. But looking at the photos, it appears to be his personal bike maybe? Hope he is ok. We have had 4 bikers (that I know of) die in this state this past week. This year the numbers have been high down here.
