  1. And won all three showings! Jim Roberts from Leeds, AL.
  2. Very nice Tour Classic. I have a friend that is riding a '96 Tour Deluxe that is a slight off-white and a weird color of blue and have always thought they were beautiful bikes.
  3. Well, considering 95% of my riding is interstate, I should be in great shape. Plus, I will be riding the dragon at a good comfortable pace. Looking forward to trying the new tire size for sure. Now, next big decision is dyna beads, Ride-On or lead weights. Leaning towards the Ride-On product. Probably going to mount tires myself. Too cheap to pay someone to do something that I can do.
  4. And you replaced the front with the narrower 130?
  5. 130/90-16 on the front instead of 150/90-16 and claim to have better handling. Are any of you doing the same and is it a smart move?
  6. I will be in the area 24th to the 30th. Not sure what days I must spend with grand babies, but will be riding the area a couple days.
  7. I knew I came to the right place. My main issue with the bike is the rubbing in sharp turns, and I ride 1 up 99% of the time. I imagine if I ever ride 2 up in one of these rides, it would be worse. If I find the bike heavier in the slow turns at stock height, I may try lowering both. Thanks!
  8. Just curious, what dates? I will be taking my bike up to Pigeon Forge the last week of May (my entire family is vacationing, but I just got to take the bike and ride the dragon). Was thinking if you were going to be coming thru while I am up there, maybe............................
  9. Thanks. I figured I would, just wanted to make sure before I order it.
  10. I thought about a trade, but then figured that if my arthritis in my knees and angles gets worse in the future, I may want to lower it again.
  11. My '99 RSV has a lowering kit installed by the previous owner. I do a lot of charity bike rides and am forever putting some metal on the pavement and really don't like or need that lowering kit. My question is this, when you install the lowering kit, does the original caliper mounting bracket get removed? I didn't bother to look last time I had the right side bag off the bike, and figured it was easier to ask you guys instead of removing the bag when I get home tonight. I am looking on eBay at factory dogbones and caliper mounting bracket and don't really want to order something I don't need.
  12. Oh, I had lots of fun alright. And those valves....due to a young apprentice making an error in judgement one night, I had to close the emergency fuel shutoff valve that fed EVERYTHING. We were in the middle of the Bering Sea, at night, in the wintertime, and slowly watched the lights all dim as the engines and generators starved for fuel. The captain was not very pleased. But he, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. We had her back up and running in 15-20 minutes, so no real harm done other than the movie being shown on the mess deck got interrupted a little. Would be great to be able to rewind life.
  13. I was aboard the USCGC Midgett, WHEC-726 for 2-1/2 years, 76-78. Made 5 ALPATS, was medevaced once, made 3 REFTRA's and a few other missions. Greatest days of my life. Went onboard as FA straight out of Alameda and struck MK. Left ship as MK3 for a ANT station in Dempololis, AL where I made MK2 before getting out in 1979. Wish I would have stayed in. Had the great opportunity of visiting the Midgett this past June in Seattle and they let me go onboard and even below decks to the engine room and other areas. Wouldn't trade my days of service for anything. Below pic was between the 2 main engines during my visit this past June. And yes, I have sea stories, just lack time in telling them this morning (at work).
  14. My exact thoughts. I don't know why Yammer Dan is giving you so much static.
  15. Would love to replace all my upholstery on my '99 RSV with the newer models pillow tops.
  16. We have seemed to have a lot more here in Alabama than in the past. Seems like every week we are hearing of at least 1 fatality. This week it was a 44 year old man 1/2 hour from where I live. I guess you can attribute a lot of it to more and more people are owning motorcycles now.
  17. Yuck. You should be able to find one on eBay if not from someone on here. Looks like lots of fun.
  18. I do similar, except I video record using my cell phone.
  19. I used my Samsung Note 3 and it pretty much does everything I need. Plugged into my AUX on radio, it works well with turn by turn while listening to music and can still use CB radio along with that method. Recently downloaded DigiHUD speedometer app to the phone and checked the accuracy of my '99 RSV. Not too bad off. When bike speedo says 65, the gps says 60-61.
  20. Put 2 of them on my VStar. Rear tire lasted about 9k miles and maybe could have lasted another 1 or 2k, but got a screw in it and decided to replace it. Front tire is still mounted and has around 14 to 15k on it and looks like it could go a few thousand more miles.
  21. I concur. I have plugged many myself (a few times on my motorcycles) and use the rubber cement, and if I can find them, rubber plugs. I hate those rope like plugs. I have NEVER had a plug fail. If installed properly, there is simply no way they can come out. And again, if the hole is outside of the tread, the tire is pretty much toast. It is not safe to even use a patch. And by no means should you ever use fix-a-flat or slime on motorcycles.
  22. Have plugged both front and back motorcycle tires over the years (with the treads) and have never had a problem. It's not like the tire is going to fly apart because it has a piece of rubber in a hole, or even that it has a hole in it. If it is a sidewall hole, different story.
