  1. I need some advice from somebody in the business. I am agonizing over this and have swung back and forth for 3 weeks between tearing what I have down and starting from scratch or trying to put a roof on the frame that I have.

Those of you who have attended my maintenance day have seen my 30' x 60' greenhouse that is no longer used for a greenhouse. It has a solid rolled U type galvanized structure with a double ply poly top and sides that are kept inflated by a fan.

After more than 10 years, the top is starting to fail and I need to figure out a way to roof it or tear it down and put up a metal building. The problem is that due to the light weight of the plastic top, there isn't a lot of structure. I've seen it with 3 ft. of snow on it so it is fairly strong. The "rafters" are galvanized steel and on 6' centers. The side walls are only 4' and the peak is 14'. The roof is curved. I'll include a picture here to give you some kind of idea.

So, I've thought about adding some horizontal supports running between the 6' center rafters and then decking and shingling it but I don't know if that's a good idea or not. I'm basically looking for the most economical way to roof this thing without having to redo it every few years.

    Any suggestions?

I' d make a big blanket out of single ply rubber roofing, pull it over the structure and mechanically fasten it at the top of the walls. But, that is just MHO.

But if you need someone to come clean out your space for you to prep for the work. I'm your huckleberry.

I can bring my own truck and trailer.

  2. Hey Woodie, what's the saying, "great minds think alike"?

The week of the 15th of August would be the weekend of the 18th and 19th with the 15th being on a Wednesday. As far as I am concerned, I say let's go for that weekend. If nothing else, we will plan on going camping there together and see if anyone wants to join us. Like I said earlier, last time ended up being a blast even though Skid did have to leave early.

Cowpuc, I would love to see you at Asheville. If I can get you to show up for entertainment, we would have a great turnout.

    Randy

If Cow PUC commits, I'll be there probably be caging it.

  3. My work sent me to Tampa for the week and behind my room is a pair of Bald Eagles I left my tripod home so these are fuzzy but awsome to see these big birds.

I must be going blind.... I don't see pictures or links to pictures.

  4. Man! He went an sold it right out from under you like that! No warning and didn't get you a replacement yet? What kind of friend is that! One of the best I'd say!:happy34: Every year brings a new ad-Venture. If you think you feel up to it tell him a spyder is easier to ride like Marcarl says and he might get the itch again. If you pool your moola you should be able to buy the top of the line.:mo money::dancefool:

No he warned me and I have even been trying to help him sale it. Had it it advertised on this site but he didn't want to list it for less than $7500 . I told him that was too much. He finally listed it for $5500 with the bike shop. He is a good friend to let me ride it for him but I did take care of and paid for the maintenance, tag and insurance. I'm not complaining. It was a great ride while it lasted.

  5. Well for the first time in a long time I am now bikeless. This past Saturday I assisted my friend by riding his 2007 Midnight Venture to a bike shop to get sold. That was the least I could do since I have been riding his bike for the last ten years as if it were mine own. He had bought the bike new and became too scarred to ride it after the first 500 miles on the odometer. I put the rest of the 19,000 miles on it. I can't complain we had a good ride together. There were two different trips to Don's maintenance day on it and many other adventures.

I don't have any immediate plans to get another one. But, it is winter and I just don't know how I'll feel come next spring.

  6. The intake rubbers that you show here have normal cracking for the age of this bike. These are very thick rubber and will not need to be replaced even though this cracking looks really bad. To check if you have leaks in these you can spray WD40 or similar over them while the bike is running. If it doesn't change idle speed then there is no leak and you probably have several years of life left in the intake boots.

The cracked intake boots if air passes through the cracks can cause performance issues of the carburetion affect. A simple fix is to coat the cracks thoroughly with liquid rubber and allow to dry.

The next thing you should do is go ahead and pony up the $12.00 for annual membership to officially join the site.

It will be the best investment you will ever make in your riding career ..............bar none.

Don't take my word for it just ask anyone on the site. What you get back in technical advice, comraderi and just plain fun will be well worth the price of admission.

  7. My understanding is that the KC plant was making the new 500c and 750cc Harley mid-weight bikes and that there was also a plant in India that was also making those bikes for the non-US markets.

What Harley Davidson's made in India :scared: tell me it ain't so.:95::Im not listening to

  8. Well, this one is not for sale. My BIL bought it brand new at a dealership in Medina, OH. Not far from me but I'm sure you can find one closer.

    OK

Since you don't want to sell it can I just come up and borrow it for a while. You know it will be safe with me.

    LOL

  9. Played with it and got it started. It ran for about 6 hrs but didn't cool at al. Temp in fridge 60 F. Can't find my adapter to dump more gas into it. I think I left it where Warden could put it away...:bang head: I've tinkered so much with it a new one might be smartest way to go. I've got it running fine now but it just Runs & Runs and doesn't cool.

Then just what good is it........ I'd kick it to the curb. I'd look for one of them newfangled smart fridgedators that has a TV in the front that tells you when your out of eggs and spies on you when you catch the warden going after vegables then post the video on Facebook for you...........that's what I'd do alright :backinmyday::mo money::thumbsup2:

  10. You didn't think all this beautiful white stuff was free did you??????

Well technically I never really ordered it exactly and what you sent was defective because it melted too fast and is already gone........ So I ain't paying.

  11. You know it is not easy to push a snowflake that far with accuracy, those little buggers wiggle all over with the slightest little breeze and never seem to go where you want them to.

I still really really want to plan a trip to the deep south to coincide with a snow storm, I think it would be a riot to just pull out a lawn chair with a cold one and watch the locals implode over an inch of the great white death.

2 inches will not get the plows out up here and likely won't even get the salters out. That little bit we just ignore. When we do get some real snow like we did with 9 inches yesterday, the roads are all clear and dry by this morning.

But then I am glad you are happy, I heard an interview this morning with the sheriff from down there and he was just blown away because there were 2 slippery bridges in the county. It just cracked me up.

Yep that's right 1 to 3" and the whole north half of the state has been playing slip and slide all day long. They just announced that I have tomorrow off too. If you can keep the temps down to below 32° F I may get Friday off too.

  12. I see you finally got your aim and range dialed in. Hacienda has 2" of white stuff and I got another day off work. With a little luck and Fool being able to keep that machine pumping I'm hoping for a one day work week this week.:fingers-crossed-emo:snow2: LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW.

  13. I don't watch a lot of football, but I caught the second half of this excellent game! Money well spent for the fans who paid to go see it

It was a good game but I disagree about money well spent for tickets. Ticket prices started at $2,000 each up to $90,000 for a box suite. I really would have been heart broken to pay that kind of money to watch my team lose.:mo money::mo money::mo money::crying::crying::crying::crying:

  14. It is with a heavy heart and football hangover that I post this morning. It was a great game but, victory was snatched away from us once again at the very last moment. A common situation here in Atlanta for some cosmic reason.

Both teams played a great game and had a phenomenal season.

Now it time to focus once again on the Falcons...... RISE UP you Dirty Birds.

  15. Falcons are still in the mix after beating the Rams last night. Georgia vs Alabama playing championship in the new Mercedes Stadium tomorrow night is a HUGE deal down her in DAWGS TERRITORY. So much so the whole city is getting off early because of the game.

    LET THE BIG DAWGS EAT.:thumbsup::fingers-crossed-emo:thumbsup:
