    OK. That makes total sense I was thinking backwards. But at the same time I don't have a nylon shim. I have a single stainless steel washer under the clip.

    okay everyone... I am wondering with everyone talking about getting the needles to go in a little farther is it possible to just remove the small washer under the E-clip on my 84 VR or would this be to much of an adjustment?

    I was getting a type of hum and vibration that you are describing on my 84 royale and it turned out to be my rear.
