  1. FYI the Wolo type doesn't always get "their" attention. On my previous bike I mounted one and although it was loud, if I had the safety room I would lay on it if someone was blindly moving over into my lane and i would watch their face. Yes I was that close. Literally right beside them - literally in their peripheral vision without having to turn their head, and they would just keep on coming over. It was usually a Lexus SUV. Guess their sound deadening works. For those ready to pounce, I would be passing them in the freeway in the next lane about 2-4 mph overtake. Point is- they didn't hear it right beside them. Ride like you are invisible- because you are. VentureFar...
  2. Took Camos advise and called Slime. Told the situation - don't have receipt - bought 'somewhere" and overpressuring it to 50 #. Nice lady said the one I have doesn't say it on the box but it isn't designed for 50# "so I will send you one that is designed for your application". Wow - I am impressed! Just arrived today. That is good customer service. Way to go Slime! VentureFar...
  3. Good work Mikewa. I am next. Thanks for leading the way. VentureFar...
  4. My Evans is a great ride. I lived in Denver for 3 years and rode it 3x. Being a dirt bike - trail rider my ride up the mountain consisted of continuously passing flat landers. You are correct. Or some it is a harrowing ride. For others who are accustomed to "goat trail" riding it is a freeway. Actually I will be riding Guanella pass road from the Grant side over to Georgetown. When I lived there it was closed due to a slide. It is about 36 miles but only 3 are unpaved. Thanks for the suggestions. I highly recommend Mt Evans too. VentureFar
  5. Well I had another great Sturgis vacation. Cut short on both ends. Couldn't leave LA till Monday and had to leave Sturgis Friday noon. My bike is now parked at the Denver airport ad I am in Connecticut at a company function. Be back to Denver Friday night and then continue for Several days meandering colorado and Utah enroute home. Vacation interrupted for business. :-( But on the bright side vacation extended :-) I have only been on this forum- and an RSV owner since March but I already feel like I have a whole lot of new friends. Thanks Ventureriders! VentureFar...
  6. I met an older guy - older than me on an RSV at glencoe. Said he is retired and lives in Florida. Has 60k miles on his 07. FYI will never camp at glencoe again. VentureFar...
  7. So RogerII and his wife met up with VentureFar at the Sturgis HS at 7:30. We didn't see another venture in the parking lot so we ate and talked. I met Vincent from NYC on Main Street ( RS venture ) And invited him but he couldn't by make it. Wish more came but rogerII and his wife hit it off. So that was a success. VentureFar...

  10. I buy my tires from MC Tire in mission hills ca. They only sell and mount tires. Nothing else. They recommend I keep the new narrow Me888 at 38 and the rear at 50. They told me that Metz rep told them these numbers and that is what they go by. The manufacturer 1st person directions. So i do as they say. Great debate guys. Getting back to the slime pump. It sounds like I just got a lemon. Is that the consensus ? VentireFar... ( Monday to Sturgis )
  11. I ran Metz 880 on my Honda Spirit 1100 for 70,000 miles ( bike weighs about 600 pounds) Got my 2007 RSV with 5000 miles on it and put another 5000 on and changed the tires to Metz 880 in the rear and the new Metz 888 in the front. Happy so far. Going to put about 4000 on with this Sturgis run. VentureFar...
  12. You burned up a "slime" pump ?
  13. Hi Syscrusher This tire is a 150-90 and metzler recommends 50 psi. See this thread- it shocked me too so I asked the forum. Many on this forum knew all about 50 psi on these Metzlers wear out quick http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=79805 Now I have to take a large compressor but I might break off all the plastic to take up less room. VentureFar...
  14. Just sharing. Tried the CycleGear pump and it wouldn't go above 35 psi. Returned it. Bought the Slime mini pump and it pumped my rear Metz 880 up from 35 to 50 in no time. That was two weeks ago. I am leaving for Sturgis Monday and wanted to make sure the rear was up to 50 since it is new and the Slime pump started Squealing. I took it off and put it back on and it squealed again. Slime needs to be returned. Attached a bigger pump that I carry in my cage and pumped no problem. Anyone else have an issue with the Slime pump at 50 pounds? Thanks VentureFar...
  15. Remember you can split lanes in California. But only do it between left and next lanes. ....and rememember to breathe VentureFar...
  16. If you get this in time. I suggest you take 101 south to Rice Ave in Ventura. Exit right - south to 1 south take 1 south to Decker Canyon road- left into the mountains ( super twisty ) Decker merges into mulholland Drive - right on Mulholland Dr Take that to "the Rock Store" 30354 Mulholland Highway, Cornell, California The famous eatery that all bikers in Southern California go to. then continue on Mulholland east to Topanga Canyon Rd. Right on Topanga to Pacific Coast Hwy - South on PCH to the 10 to 405 south and continue on. VentureFar...
  17. Xv1100sv Don't miss crazy horse only one hour from Rushmore. Remember that devils tower ( of close encounters of the 3rd kind fame) is just a little to the west. Safe ride. VentureFar...

  19. Great ride I live in Los Angeles. Are you heading over to Yosemite and Lake Tahoe area or down the rest of the coast? The rest after hwy 1 from Monterey to San Louis obispo is not "pretty". Thanks for sharing VentureFar...
  20. I have the 100 led AND the 16 led hyper lites mounted just under the trunk rack- up as high as possible. Now that is a lit up rear! VentireFar...
  21. Should we start a pool for the winning answer ?
  22. Sorry. I have an imminent passing in my extended family so can't leave from Ca until the funeral. I was the one suggesting wed am pancake breakfast at the Sturgis hs but I may be a no show. Depending on "when" I may high tail it as I have to be in Denver next Saturday anyway. I will post the "for sure" when I know. Safe ride to all VentureFar...
  23. preface - I am not a wrench. But on my 1100 Honda I thought I had a rev limiter until I found out it was jetted sooooo rich that full throttle flooded the rear cylinder. Correct jetting and I had a whole NEW bike. VentureFar....
  24. No - with 10.5 inch " shorty ". With the extension up, it is the same as riding behind the stock shield - except 4 inches wider so less air hitting you. VentureFar...
  25. I got the 10.5" baggershield with the 6 inch extension. I am IN LOVE. The air bobbles around me and the wife, not buffeting - even in strong head and crosswinds. I have recommened the Baggershield to several others and they love it instantly. I am 5'11" and wear a full face shield but always leave the shield open. If is sit totally straight up the frontal air hits the faceshiled and knocks it closed. So the air hits me on the helmet directly between my eyes and the top of my head. - Since it is wider by 2" on either side you lose any wrap around buffet. search on baggershield on this site - and remember to follow the instructions to take the old shield off - NO shortcuts. Ask if you have questions - we are all here to help - even us newbies that have only owned our RSV's since March. Welcome to this great forum. VentureFar...
