I picked up a rear rim to have cleaned and powdercoated. As I examine the hub area I see the dampers where the lugs fasten. As the powdercoat process heats up to 400 deg. F. I need to remove the dampers. Any tricks to this or is it a simple press out procedure. Also, is there a reinstall procedure or measurement? I would guess uneven installation would cause runout and wobbles. Also thinking that deteriorated rubber would cause the same problems. Just a thought on the decelleration wobble idea.

Squeeze - as the hub is closed in, is there enough room to press them into the hub cavity then fish the dampers out through the bearing hole? Or am I missing something that exposes the other side of the wheel?

I agree that the dampers should not affect runout per say. But during accelleration or decelleration could worn or soft bushings cause a vibration? They seem to be intact and not too soft. Just thoughts at this point in the game.
