Honerism Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM Posted yesterday at 03:07 AM I own a 2009 Royal Star Tour Deluxe S. It is a weekend rider for short trip and only has 7500 miles on it. It has been meticulously maintained and I've never had an ounce of trouble with it. I recently experienced a starting issue where I heard a loud "clunk" like metal hitting metal when attempting to start and then the motor would not turn. The solenoid would click, but the engine did not turn. I thought my battery had lost charge, so I put it on the charger overnight. The next day, she started fine. After a handful of rides, the issue repeated itself. Again, thinking my battery was low, I put it on the charger and it started fine the next time. Unfortunately, it happened a third time and the solenoid clicks, but the motor will not turn even after a battery charge. I had the battery load tested and it passed with no issues. I replaced the solenoid, but that did not help. After reading through a few posts, I am thinking it might be my starter clutch. Perhaps something has broken internally and not allowing the motor to turn? I would like some advice on how I could diagnose the root cause to ensure I am fixing the right problem. If it is the starter clutch, is it a repair that I can do myself and are there any available instructions? Thanks in advance for your help!
RDawson Posted yesterday at 01:06 PM Posted yesterday at 01:06 PM Pull the plugs and see if it’ll turn. Check the oil to see if it’s full of gas to Rule out a hydrolock situation.
luvmy40 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Hydrolock was the first thing that came to my mind. Doesn't that usually bend a rod instantly?
