luvmy40 Posted September 12 #1 Posted September 12 (edited) I bought an economy, long range scope based on a couple YouTuber's reviews a couple months ago. When I received it, I was impressed with the apparent build quality so I decided I would build a new long range whole punch to go under it. I was considering my options and leaning toward a Ruger Precision Rifle in .308. It looks to be a great system out of the box and reasonably priced, though still expensive. While down in VA for a family reunion, I found a new bang stick shop and spent a few hours trading lies and drooling on their stock when the proprietor asked me what I would say if he could show me .308ish ballistics from an AR15 platform. He then went on to educate me on the 6mm ARC from Hornady. After a few minutes googling the round, I decided to buy the parts to build a Upper in 6mm ARC. After gathering everything up, the nice young man offered to assemble the upper free of charge. BONUS! I ended up with an Aero Precision upper receiver(no forward assist) and Aero Precision 12.5 M Lock forearm with a Ballistic Advantage 18" barrel, rifle length gas tube and adjustable gas block. Capped with the Silencer Co. QD muzzle device. OH, some nice Trump 2024 graphics on the dust cover. Here it is mounted on my Fight! lower with the 30cal JK suppressor and Magpul bipod. N3FOL Posted September 14 #2 Posted September 14 I've never owned a long gun, but all I can say is 'Very Nice'!
luvmy40 Posted 2 hours ago Author #3 Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I finally had some free time to hit the range with the 6mm ARC build. The final build was as pictured in my OP but I had swapped the Mil Spec trigger for a Rise Armament, Rave140 trigger. After getting the scope dialed in at 100 yards with no suppressor, I installed the JK Armament VERSA X .30 cal can and had 4 rounds left in the magazine. The group, while off aim point was stupid tight. All four shots are completely covered by a nickel. Under 1/2 MOA! I'd call that solid. I'm waiting for the NFA tax to go to $0.00 in January to pick up the SILENCERco Omega 300 can that is going to live on this upper before I adjust the scope to match the can.
