muellercandd Posted 20 hours ago #1 Posted 20 hours ago OK, so I am in the mist of my rebuild I have hit 2 road blocks, I am really hoping someone can point in the correct direction. 2000 venture btw. 1) I have moved things around enough that I have lost track of which ignition coil is for the left and right side on the front of the motor. My coil sit on the back bone, one above and slightly aft, the other below slightly forward. I am thinking the one on top is for the left cylinder. Please let me know if you know. 2) I am having trouble identifying the oil for the transmission, some of this may because I am used to using different terminology than the service manual. I am seeing 2 different things. One is that the final drive use an SAE 80 gear but if I am looking at this right, that is the hub/differential for the rear wheel. I am also seeing the area in question being called the middle drive. I read that this uses the same oil as the motor. Does that mean oil from the motor is being pumped to the transmission? With a separate fill cap behind the chrome cover with the oil fill cap, I am guessing I need to place oil in the transmission, but what kind? Oil is currently in the motor and the second cover on the left is off and no oil is coming out. Thanks in advance
RDawson Posted 18 hours ago #2 Posted 18 hours ago Engine and transmission share the same oil. No separate change required. Notchy shifting/hard to find neutral conditions let you know your oil change is overdue.
muellercandd Posted 7 hours ago Author #3 Posted 7 hours ago Thank you, I did notice late last night oil getting into that section after cranking the motor enough. That cover is now back on. Now I just need help identifying the coil for ledt and right on the front cylinders
