Hey Tom, I'm planning a Fall Leaf Rally up into Northern Ontario the first weekend of Oct. Leaving Saturday morning from my place up through what many have described as countryside that Ontario is famous for (Land of Lakes) showcasing some of the nicest biking roads under a kaleidescope of colour that Ontario has to offer. Staying overnight just outside of Algonquin Park in Huntsville. with the group riding home Sunday.

I will be posting this Rally in Ventureriders rally form shortly. Consider yourself invited.

I was going to post this ride after the International rally in Kitchener but if there is interest I will post it as soon as I can firm up the accommodations as riders will have to book a room for the Saturday night stay over.

The route has been laid out and I will do a test ride this June to fine tune the rest and food stops.

Usually in the first part of October you can get very nice weather. It can get pretty cool at night but usually not below freezing. During the day it's usually great riding weather wearing a coat. It's possible to get a freak storm with snow but very unlikely at that time. We usually ride till end of November and sometimes into December.

Tom,

Here in Canada's sun parlor October is usually a good riding time. We never get any measurable snow until Dec. And even then the salt they put on the road will be deeper than the snow.

Not to say we don't get some cool days in Oct. but generally it's a great time of year to ride.

The first full week of Oct. is open. We'll keep the light on for y'all eh!

I expect you will want to travel back and forth on the weekends so if any of the working stiffs up here want to join in with us they better book some vacation time. (you listening Brad T.)

Wow, I'm reading these posts and wonder what world I live in ?

Riding in my Northern Ontario in October is going to be tricky. Not usually any snow on the ground (at least none that stays for more than a day) but cold, wet and miserable are keywords often used. The odd nice day makes for wonderful riding but its hard to plan for that one or two days in advance, let alone several months.

But then again, when I refer to Huntsville, I usually add "Down South" ....

Looking forward to getting notice of the official weekend in case I can go. This will probably be the closest rally to my home (Timmins) but I'm not sure if I can risk a ride "Down South" because I may need to trailer home .....

Steve, have you had the pleasure of eating at 3 Men and a Stove in Huntsville. If not check it out. One of the best restaraunts I have eaten at. I sent Carl there on his trip last year.

Gayle and myself would be interested in your weekend ride.

PM's are not working this morning for some reason. Just punch in 247 Rd. 11, Kingsville Ontario. It's not hard to find and only about 30 minuets from the bridge. Lots of road construction in Detroit around the bridge area but it's not hard to get through. You can't take a bike in the tunnel so don't even think about it. You have to take the bridge.

There is also a really neat lodge about 15 minutes from Algonquin - called "Cedar Grove Lodge" - its on Fairy Lake - really great accomodations - log cabins, fireplaces, central hall with home cooked meals.

First couple of weeks in Oct are usually beautiful.

If anyone is riding around the Georgian Bay/Lake Huron area (Southampton), give me a shout - I have room here to accomodate 2 people and there is some great riding around here as well.

Cheers

Hey Tom - it won't be quite as warm as riding in Texas, but it ain't bad at all, especially in the "banana belt" where Gary N lives ... they hardly even get winter in his neck of the woods! :whistling:

Awesome, and yes Marion and I have eaten @ three men and a stove, had not thought of adding it to the list of restaurants. If I can remember correctly the price point of the menu starts @ $18.00 can. per plate. If everyone who is interested has deep pockets maybe we should consider staying at the Deerhurst Inn and Resort rather than moteling it in town.

The choices would be (a) just need a place to lay my head (economy)or (b) sunken living with fireplace and jacuzzi tub off the three bedroom suite with 3 world class restaurants on 18 hole golf course in the heart of the Muskokas (very nice place but pricey).

Let me know your thoughts and I will get rates.:cool10:

Cedar Grove is on my list of possible sites for the overnight, as I had planned to pass by Fairy Lake on our way through Algonquin Park. Again its deciding what price point we all could be happy with.
