Pam Posted May 6, 2014 #1 Posted May 6, 2014 Finally getting that Virago up and running and I am in need of a fuel filter. Does anyone have a source for fuel filters, Other than Dealer, Thanks
Peder_y2k Posted May 6, 2014 #2 Posted May 6, 2014 I'd go to the auto parts store and see what could be a suitable substitute. Fuel filters are usually alike in their filtering characteristics. I am using a std. plastic Fram in-line filter on my VR with zero problems. -Pete, in Tacoma WA USA
muaymendez1 Posted May 6, 2014 #3 Posted May 6, 2014 I agree. Something of fame volume/size should work. Just don't mix fuel injected with carbuerated. Fuel injecting filters are built stronger to withstand the pressures of the pump, but sometimes have difficulty altering fuel through with out the pump
BlueSky Posted May 6, 2014 #4 Posted May 6, 2014 Some of the filters have a high dp. Blow through it before putting it on to make sure it flows well. I put a small filter on my Kawa that works well. I bought a larger filter at AZ later to replace it with but it was much harder to blow through, so I back flushed the first one and re-installed it. With a gravity drain fuel supply, it doesn't take much dp to run out of fuel in the high rpm ranges.
Pam Posted May 6, 2014 Author #5 Posted May 6, 2014 Sounds like a plan, It is kind of an odd shaped thing to fit into the bracket. Thanks guys:301:
