GAWildKat Posted April 26, 2014 Share #1 Posted April 26, 2014 ....after Mike pulled the side covers off to do the carbsync I noticed the oil slick going down the engine. both the centerstand and side stand are coated in oil. We have a known leak around the heal/toe shifter, but this is new, any thoughts about this? Tricia
skydoc_17 Posted April 26, 2014 Share #2 Posted April 26, 2014 Hey Tricia, That leak would be the Valve Cover Gasket and the Grommets that hold the Valve Cover in Place. Usually when these items are leaking, you would do a valve adjustment, and replace the valve cover gaskets and grommets. Then you are done for quite a while. Flyinfool Posted April 26, 2014 Share #3 Posted April 26, 2014 Valve cover gaskets. No big deal, just messy. Replace them when you are ready to do a valve check. Keep the side covers on so that you do not notice the oil.........

Flyinfool Posted April 26, 2014 Share #5 Posted April 26, 2014 Just for grins & giggles until your ready to replace gaskets check the bolts they may be a tad loose won't stop leak but slow it down not a major deal Those bolts only get snugged. If you over tighten you can snap them off and it is a real PITA to get the broken end out.
