I have always wanted to go to Americade in Lake George and it looks like I'm going to get my chance this year. I got reservation at a Motel 8 in Ticonderoga NY. It is about 36 miles north of Americade and was 90 bucks a night, OUCH! Booked Tuesday June 3rd through Thursday. I plan on leaving there Friday morning to head to Don's maintenance day. Well any way looking at the official site it looks like you have to pay to get into any of the activities. I would have thought the vendor area would be free. On the official site it only list prices for preregistering and shows two pre register packages. A Classic package for someone staying 3+ days at @ 63.00 or a Premium Package for 106.00. They also show a Premium wrist band, a Classic wrist band and a Tourexpo hand stamp but there aren't any prices on those. I'm really only there all day Wednesday and Thursday. Does anyone know if it is worth it to get the cheaper Classic package or just get the wrist band/hand stamps for each day.

for a short time just pay as you go, $10 or so to do venders area, and the rest of the time just take in the sites for free. I'm doing almost the same as you, but going to MD on wed. Going to stay down around Saratoga, rooms a little cheaper till wed. on. Over in Rutland, VT. rooms are cheaper too, a lot stay there too.

If you want to get access to the demo rides you need to be a registered guest, the vendor area pass will not get you in there. Skip the escorted rides they are slow cumbersome and often accordion or slingshot a lot. get a good map or local advice and do your own rides. head up past Brant lake nice curvy road or past ny rt 8, or up the lake Luzerne Road and continue up to Great Scanandaga lake. if you register take the Yamaha boat tour around the lake, or one of the several other manufactured boat trips, but don't expect much from the dinners themselves. The BBQ on top of MT prospect werte pretty good, but Don't think they have those this year, nice ride up the mountain anyway. The Friday night dinner at Great escape was pretty good, but you can watch the fireworks from anywhere. In any case enjoy.

Forgot to mention Skip the parking pass, if you have a registered wrist band, park in one of the tour expo lots and take the shuttle or walk, just about everything is within a mile radius. Parking on the streets is crowded and prone to scratches

I'll be going for the fourth time, no big deal right? But it is a long ride from Florida. Actually I really enjoy the ride. This year after Americade, I am going to head on over to Maine and spend some time along that coast up towards Canada before heading home. I don't stay at motels but camp at LG I have stayed at different campgrounds each time, This year will be I the Whippoorwill Campground just south of LG....$25/night. There are some relatively less expensive motels up around Warrensburg, only 9 miles north of LG and a lot of rally stuff going on there. Not much happening in Ticonderoga but it is a good 2 + hour (Very scenic) ride to LG along the lake...Also you can catch the ferry over into Vermont from Ticonderoga. I do take 1 dinner cruise on the lake and do one of the mini tours. Sure you can ride on your own but if you are not familiar with the area a mini tour is the way to go. This year I will be doing the Vermont Covered Bridges Tour....Whatever you do, take your time and enjoy!

Oh yeah, spend the $10 for a parking pass, it allows you to park anywhere in LG and will save a lot of time and grief
