CaptainJoe Posted June 29, 2013 Author Share #2 Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Here's a possibility for the route: can modify to take advantage of the sites. Have never ridden rt#28 but it goes right thru Seneca rocks so... https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=Sandyville,+WV&daddr=39.2385691,-81.4535019+to:Clarksburg,+WV+to:Cool+Springs+Park,+George+Washington+Highway,+Rowlesburg,+WV+to:Blackwater+Falls+State+Park,+Davis,+WV+to:38.8423654,-79.4128584+to:Snowshoe,+WV+to:38.422536,-79.9918155+to:38.356496,-80.339095+to:COWEN,+WV+to:Birch+River,+WV+to:Spencer,+WV+to:Sandyville,+WV&hl=en&ll=39.006379,-80.538025&spn=1.141828,2.609253&sll=38.929502,-81.095581&sspn=2.286062,5.218506&geocode=FTyoUQId9fQh-ym9tq0AWvpIiDFpuRpRi8f78Q%3BFam7VgIdQx4l-ynfNEDhlrNJiDFjjmvhhXL-Lg%3BFQVgVwIdKgo2-yl3fusJy2dKiDHgR8xwzh7pXQ%3BFWT8VwIdD6U_-yGTOvputre_nimJKbKICr1KiDGTOvputre_ng%3BFVjBVAIdBw5D-yFDmH6sQv57pimt-FSpPslKiDFDmH6sQv57pg%3BFf2vUAIdhkFE-ymHbKUoY9VKiDHskVwoJG7VUA%3BFYsmSgIdO2Y7-ymZ41tCx3BLiDG9AjJrrmPyjw%3BFQhISgId-Ws7-ykn-5uhxHBLiDFahzjF3LvDOQ%3BFRBGSQIdaR82-ymd0zfwuI5LiDGSpKURNQRiPw%3BFVEVSgId1sgy-ym5sDUqkPFLiDGhCI8F7TVNKQ%3BFZtxSwIdZsYv-yk9U9pwqONLiDG5OU6Y_BBpRA%3BFXASUAId164m-ynHZS7fiBpJiDGVUBeKZVwl9A%3BFTyoUQId9fQh-ym9tq0AWvpIiDFpuRpRi8f78Q&oq=cool+springs&mra=ls&via=1,5,7,8&t=m&z=9 Edited June 29, 2013 by CaptainJoe
slowrollwv Posted June 29, 2013 Share #3 Posted June 29, 2013 Joe I can't do the hole ride but I can meet you all at Cool Springs Park on RT 50. Let me know if this works and we can plan on a meeting time.
CaptainJoe Posted June 29, 2013 Author Share #4 Posted June 29, 2013 (edited) Sounds good to me... I just added Cool Springs Park "C" to google maps link above. I will most likely be the only one to do the entire ride, unless someone fairly close meets up with me in the morning. Tried to loop back to I-79 so folks could get back home quickly if needed. Skid Posted June 29, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 29, 2013 That's a large loop at nearly 10 hours. By the time you add gas and food along with other rest stops, you are well over a 12 hour day...

RT 28 is a beautiful ride through Senaca and back around through Durbin and little river and up Cheat Mt and back through Green bank and towards Huttensville and end up in Elkins . Were to meet and what time is The Ride taking place .
CaptainJoe Posted July 1, 2013 Author Share #11 Posted July 1, 2013 (edited) Skid... Don't worry bout me I'm good for an all dayer... (figuring a 12-13 hr ride...just so i get back before those deer come out at night) If I start out at 7 am will be in Grantsville by 9. Snowshoe by 12:30 I'm leaning towards the smaller route as we could pickup 4 bikes by the time we hit I-79. CalhounWV, Skid, Yammer Dan (would pull approx 6 -7 hr ride 10 am 5 pm) Traveling up 79 to 33 we could pickup Yamaha Woodsey and crew.(8-9 hr ride, 10 am- 7 pm) Others have expressed interest from Wierton and falling Waters, Martinsburg but even for just a M&E at Snowshoe, it will be +9 hr ride. will modify this when i get back. It's my moms b-day and she wants me to take the truck and buy her some plants... Edited July 2, 2013 by CaptainJoe

CaptainJoe Posted August 19, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) Due to some conversations about this being a bad weekend for those just getting back from Vogel, and hardship for the churchgoing... How do you folks feel about having this Ride on Saturday the 31st? Edited August 20, 2013 by CaptainJoe

CaptainJoe Posted August 20, 2013 Author Share #16 Posted August 20, 2013 I realize that's Labor day weekend and people are trying to squeeze in one more vacation . That's why I wanted to have it this Sunday. As someone said earlier, believe it was Squidley, if you can't make the get together, just think about Gunboat the next time you take a ride... CaptainJoe Posted September 1, 2013 Author Share #18 Posted September 1, 2013 Deluge of rain here in WV ths weekend.... As there hasn't been a large response to this, I'm gong to head to Washington DC on 9/11. I'm Leaving tue. morning (9/10) on Rt 33 from SANDYVILLE, WV. As Gunboat was a Navy man, (jet aircraft mechanic), my ride will not only support the 911 responders, but Gunboat and his spirit as well... Any one interested, is welcome to ride along.
