jdog910 Posted March 11, 2013 Share #1 Posted March 11, 2013 every post ive seen so far doesnt have a clear answer, is there a way to heighten the needle since there is only one clip position? Ive completely opened the exhaust and have a k&n so its been a little lean. Any help would be great.

utadventure Posted March 12, 2013 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Try looking at this thread: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3770&title=first-gen1983-to-1993-vr-needle-shim-mod-kit-21&cat=22 Not hard to do. Remove the diaphram/slider from the carb, disassemble the needle portion, remove the washer and replace with the thinner washer(s). Re-assemble and re-sync the carbs. Venturous Randy Posted March 12, 2013 Share #4 Posted March 12, 2013 Same principle, but he is wanting to richen it up a little, not lean it. Therefore, he needs to add thicker washers. RandyA
Pegasus1300 Posted March 12, 2013 Share #5 Posted March 12, 2013 Just put the thinner washer under the stock washer resync and you should be good to go.
Condor Posted March 12, 2013 Share #6 Posted March 12, 2013 I ran K&N's in the '83 and it didn't run lean. Ran just fine. Richen up the mix and your MPG will suffer, and that's not something you might want to do with the price of fuel lately...
