Jackets for us short round guys

I've always had trouble finding a good riding jacket that fit me well. Being on the heavy side when I find a jacket that fits at the waist the arms hang down to my knees. The elbow pads become forearm pads. Last weekend I went to the Atlanta MC show for the specific purpose of looking for a jacket and I found one that works. It is a Fieldsheer Aqua Sport. http://www.fieldsheer.com/2008site/IE/product/AquasSportsJacket.htm

I spoke with the Fieldsheer rep and they make jackets in 2 cuts. One for cut narrower for trim riders and one that is more full cut for us middle age wide bodies. This is the first jacket I've found with pads that is comfortable with all of the pads where they are supposed to be. This is my first exposure to Fieldsheer. It looks like a well made jacket but I had never heard of the brand before.

If this works as good as I expect I want to get a warm weather jacket also. They have a mesh jacket with a zip out liner that has the same cut.

Seems like the only brands the local dealers around me carry are Joe Rocket and River Road which never work for me. I just wanted to pass this along in case any other riders have the same problem finding jacket with a little fuller cut.

I too am a rather round fellow. I wear a couple different jackets. I got them both from motorcyclecloseouts.com .

My all-weather jacket is a Fieldsheer Nevada. Nice jacket for the price. Waterproof. Well vented. The fleece liner, however, is really lame. It seems to be a rather poor quality fleece. I've done best by wearing another light jacket or sweatshirt under the Nevada and stayed plenty warm. The quality of the stitching on Fieldsheer products probably isn't a pretty as Joe Rocket or Icon, but it is certainly durable enough. I have 2 jackets (one is mesh), rain pants and armored riding pants that are all Fieldsheer products and am very happy with them all. All of them are textile. My wife has 2 jackets (one is leather) and she also seems to be quite happy with them.

We've gotten all our jackets from http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com and couldn't be happier with the service. Make sure you checkout their "hot deals" and closeout deals. You can really save a lot of money.

I almost forgot. When ordering Fieldsheer mens jackets, get a size larger than you would normally wear. I normally wear a 2XL but have had to get 3XL jackets. They seem to run a size small.

I'm a big guy too and wear a Fieldshear mesh with a zip out during the summer. Never heard of the brand either until I picked it up off Ebay for a half way decent price. Wore it to and from Ft Collins last year and it was great. Even in 105degs. I'd recommend Fieldshear to anyone. And the price is right.

BTW: I got carried away and picked up a few extra new 4x and 5x FMC leather, and Power-Trip Ballistic jackets at an auction. Anyone interested, PM me....

I have a similair problem but to the other direction. Slender with a 36" arm length. Bought a size 50 leather just for arm length and it hangs from the mid-section.
