johnbroughman Posted April 21, 2012 Share #1 Posted April 21, 2012 2001 RSV with 90,000 miles, cruise will work some times, other times it wont, have been having this problem for about 7 months now. Some times it will set and work great, other times you have to turn it off and on several times before it will work, and then when you cancel or touch brake it wont reset and you have to turn switch off and on several times to get it to set. Getting to be a pain. Any ideas?
ACE50 Posted April 21, 2012 Share #2 Posted April 21, 2012 When my 99 was acting up I found the vacuum actuator under the left lower fairing had come loose at the adjustment nut. That fixed mine. Sure there are plenty of other issues it could be though. The vacuum pump is under the right fairing. Just tear the bike all apart and I'm sure you'll find it! :whistling:
zacventure06 Posted April 21, 2012 Share #3 Posted April 21, 2012 I had the same issue and mine would run away when I hit res/acc switch after I had set the cruise. The dealer said it was a sensor that was replaced. Works OK now. Very frustrating!
Brake Pad Posted April 21, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 21, 2012 I see a plastic black stick, about 3/4 inch long, ( I guess a Clutch Bushing) It has a little wear on it, But the clutch handle has some play in it, when I release the handle, should it be play-less? johnbroughman Posted April 25, 2012 Author Share #5 Posted April 25, 2012 Thanks everyone for the comments, I found the problem, mostly by accident but it was or is the slack in the clutch lever handle, it doesnt return to the full extent and leave just enough slack that it interfers with the cruise. I notice if after I get in 5th gear and push the lever all the way out with the back of my fingers, the cruise works fine in all functions, this may also be the same problems some of the others are experinceing.
